RB 182 FF > 182 Trophy

  Better than yours. C*nt.
You know, with selling the cars the one that I've actually shed a tear for is the Trophy. It's the one that put me back on my feet, and got me messing with cars again. The Exige is a great track weapon, but the Trophy was so much more fun on the road.

f**k, I'll miss it.

The trophy ALWAYS feel special. i drive the c**t for 15k miles a year and every time i drive something else i'm glad to get back into it. As Warren says it just feels special. i love it!

ktr suspension will prpbably ruin the car anyway.

Cheap coilovers fail big time.

I am liking trophy's a LOT at the minute!! Really growing on me! :)

Had another minter in today!

Me and a mate were chatting about the Trophy's the other day and were only saying we'd love to drive one as they appear to be so highly thought of they must be special.

Yeh but to buy your Trophy I have to find a buyer for the car, sell the suspension, cage, Futuras and yozzasport exhaust system, raise an extra 2k + insurance rise :(...

Although i would love to buy it:dapprove:

Insurance shouldn't be that much more, if any at all? Similar quotes for me on a 182 and a Trophy.

Gwan... You've got until someone else takes it off my hands :p

Trophy is grp 17

I personally wouldnt bother in your shoes. Just save the money for a DC5 imo, trust me ;)

Luke are you ever happy when it comes to cars? :) I thought you were after a teg the other day?

As for the trophy, it is obviously a tough decision to make but you just spent all that cash on your motor to make it even better than it already is and now you want to buy another?

I think you should buy a Lada, you would look good driving that about Sheffield! :rasp:

Or just get some Sachs and save yourself some money, well maybe not as they are over 1k

As good as they are I wouldnt get rid of a RB just for the same car with tweaked suspension

Personally, I wouldn't do it but then I've never driven a Trophy. All I will say is that if you bought secondhand Trophy suspension and fitted it to RB, would not that be the most sensible (and cheapest) option?

A happy compromise? :)

You've got a spangly new zorst, new seats blah blah...and if you really really really want Recaros sell your current buckets ;)

I have driven both and chose one to own.

Sidestep in my opinion.

Yes the Sachs are good, but the novelty will fade. The Recaros are comfy, but you'll get fed up with seating position as I did with mine, the interior bar the front seats is cr@p and the lack of details which your 182 FF has will be noticed: Xenons, as gay as they are are a massive selling point for me.

The car is the same as yours bar a few details, the only one that matters is the suspension and its relevance fades unless you persistently explore the edges of horizontal grip on bumpy B-roads.

Maybe your viewing it as an object of desire due to there special colour, stickers etc however if you look at your current situation you've got a minty 182, few choice parts to throw on and a student loan in the bank, and 8k (as lovely as it is) trophy in exchange will leave you with very little.

Just my 2 pence :)

Trophy's are currently selling for £7k ish and I find it funny that so many people have opinions about cars they've never driven..........

I love mine and its excellent on both road and track but then I personally wouldn't piss about adding crap like Xenons or bench seats as IMHO they just spoil the car.

:)

ah yes track, I forgot about the marketing ploy there momentarily!

They like a roll don't they! ;)

I drove a trophy and it was very crashy. Lets just say it wasnt very well set up for a poorly surfaced B road, although im sure it would have been great on a smooth track.

I really cant see what the fuss is about if you are after a road car.

That's probably due to my fatness but on most b roads there far better than chavved up cars on coilies.

;)

oh without a seconds doudt old chap, those pesky chavs & chavets, who do they think they are kidding messing with a track car on the road!

That's because it's a track car for the road, or is a it a road car for the track, road car for the road, or maybe a road car for the road and occasional rolly track outing ;)

Lol at so many people.

If the suspension feels the same, you have f**k all sensitivity. Novelty? How is a better riding, better handling car a novelty?

And double lol at it being designed as a track car. It was designed to be the ultimate road Clio, hence it still having compliance built into the suspension. Which is why a 182cup is slightly quicker on track, but wouldn't be able to stay with a Trophy on a B-road.

If the ride felt crashy, you drove a duff one.

As with every Trophy thread on CS, Warren speaks sense. Before I bought my Trophy, I had a lengthy test drive in a fully specced 182 and a 182 Cup. Great cars, and was about to commit to the fully specced Racing Blue one until I heard there was a Trophy in at a dealer up the road. Went there, drove it, bought it. The difference between the cars is unreal, leagues ahead in terms of driving. Anyone who thinks otherwise after driving them back to back is quite simply, deluded!

Drive one, and be prepared to be amazed. Drive a normal 182 round a corner at say 50mph, the Trophy will breeze round at 60. They just feel so much more special than the others. The cornering capabilities are phenomenal, sure the other 182's are good cars their's no doubting that, but the Trophy is brilliant. Mike's is the perfect one, the only thing I wish my old one had was the xenons, and his has them! Buy it!

They will come up at some point.

There was a full set on Ebay for 900 quid a few weeks ago, worth buying to put on a RB 182 Cup/Cup packed...I know I would

Fair enough, but a RB182 with sachs will depreciate more than a Trophy. Trophy value's have been pretty consistent for about 2 yrs now. You'd need the rear dampers as well as the fronts. The rears aren't exactly the same as cup dampers IIRC (although they are Renault parts).
