Rctempires - Project Cli-llowww - 2006 till Current Date.

Time to post a project thread as its taken almost 2 years to nearly complete it fully.

Well the plans were always to make it look good, picked up the car for pennies really with 48K on the clock back in September 2006.
So after driving out of Reg Vardy, with a MOT and tax, i was a happy happy man.
Passed my test in July 2006, and insurance was a killer £1112.56 for 1 Year TPFT. But that didnt stop me, it was my own policy with my dad as a second driver, which didnt make any difference to the premium.

So back to the story. Here is my Mark 1 Renault Clio 1.2l Biarritz.

Few changes happened after this.
Basically i set out the list here:
The Changes which have happened since these pictures.
  • The wee 13" wheelse have gone, they are now replaced with Renault Megane Coupe Wheels, a whole 14". Wooaaaahhhh.
  • Exhaust has been changed to a Custom Stainless Steel Job. :approve:
Ask Ross M, how loud it is .
  • Clear Indicators are now on, thanks to Mat for them and thanks to Winston for the surrounds(not got them yet, so im borrowing right now)
  • Upgraded the rear standard speakers, these were standard Renault speakers,(which i had to fit myself) so these were replaced two weeks ago with SPL-X 4".
  • A Big bass box was fitted with two 10" cones, with two tweeters on either side. This is subject to change when i can be bothered fitting my custom install.
  • A new SPL-X 850W AMP for the bass box.
  • Sadly the Mudflaps have been removed due to rubbing by the 14" wheels.
  • ClioSport.Net sticker has appeared on the right corner of the back window.
  • On my Second Windscreen wiper motor, going to replace that one, as i only have two speeds, constant and constant fastest.
  • New Bosh Super 4+ spark plugs replaced the standard NKG ones.
  • New HT leads after replacing the Renault ones.
Things to come in the due course.
  • RT dials, getting them next weekend.
  • RSi Side skirts being fixed with fiberglass and sprayed and put on the car.
  • Rear quater panel dent removed and nicely repared and resprayed.
  • Dents in doors and bonnet removed.
  • Custom boot build. Maybe next weekend too.
  • Change of the CoilPack to fix my engine problem.
  • Change of the Air Regulator to fix the engine problem.
So basically it sort of list what i did, however the coil pack and air regulator were changed promptly after the initial post, due to engine trouble.

Next on the item list was a full clean and wax of the car, i was relatively new to waxing, so T-Cut was bought, but it did do the car wonders. In this time a after market exhaust was added and a few other goodies.

So the Megane Coupe 14" wheels, followed with the Stainless Steel Exhaust.

Next my car was vandalised and the wing was kicked in for no reason. I got the money of the said party and to the body shop it went for the Wing and the Quater, oh and the pink spoiler.

So those were to be fixed at last.
The favourite pic from this era of the clio stands at this.

So after coming back from the bodyshop, these was the results of the ClioSport Meet in March 2007.

I fell back in love with the clio, and even though it was 10ft off the ground, i loved it. I just liked going drives to nowhere and enjoying it.

Then 1 Week before my first FCS in 2007, disaster struck, Big Ends went on the engine. So i missed T in the Park 2007 to replace the engine, thankfully it was amazing weather, so my father and i set to work, replaced the engine in 1 weekend with the engine running sweet. Along with the engine, i added a Custom Bootbuild.
4 x 8" Subs with an Alpine 1000W Amp.

Then i gained a new headrest to replace the one which was from a Vauxhall.

Next was a Window tint for the back. Went with 40% all around in the back.

After the Engine replacement for the MOT i decided to go back to standard wheels and exhaust for the MOT.
Passed the MOT with a failure, but this was due to a dodgy spark, so changed that and it passed no problem at all.

cs-28-09-07_09.jpg

As it was after the MOT.

Around November 2007 i decided to lower the clio. So the Clio was lowered by friendly DJW Dave, i still am debating it is between 45mm and 55mm and i cant decide which one it is, but it was an excellent job, sadly i deleted the pictures of it on its arse so these are the closest pictures i have to the date.

During this time, there was an incident to my clio, so it involved paint stripper and a very annoyed/upset me.

Well the blobs are red primer to stop the car from rusting.
Yes it did annoy me alot to see my car perfect to be ruined by some kid. So i drove it around until it was fixed. I grew used to the blobs.

Then the Rolling Road at Falkland Performance happened. I was proud to get 65BHP, yes 5 BHP more for doing nothing at all.

Sadly this was met with concequences. Around 1 month after this, my head blew on the car, thanks to Reco we did the head in a week, ie after work every night. It rained everyday but the spirits werent dampened at all. We got it working and it was firing on 3 Cylinders, so back to the drawing board, we eventually found the exhaust tapet was stuck open, after we had adjusted them previously. So with this done, the car lived.

Here is a random picture of the car during this time.

After a wash and a clay, the car looked like this around April 2008

So May time and i went a run with a few of the local clios after we spent all day washing them, so here is a few pictures from that meet.

Bodyshop time. So the car went in for a respray, which at the time was only ment to be the bits that needed done, but eventually turned into a full respray. So thank you to Gormac Coachworks in Renfew for fixing my clio and a wonderful time driving a 206 Automatic.

Then after a while the car was ready. The full respray was done, and i had opted for colour coded bumpers to set the car off with the RSi Sideskirts fitted too.
After:

I was in love again with the clio, and i cant take my eyes off it, and love driving it again.
The attention it gets is amazing and the right kind now after the blobs i had.

So the next mod was the French Pressed Plates.

Well that brings it right upto the present day.

Hope you enjoy just looking at the car/progress of it.

I have a few plans for the car in the future so hopefully it will work out for the best.

Thanks.

looks in great nick now, bloody chavs with their paint thinner, some people in this world...

any more plans in the pipeline?

If chavs paint strippered my car i wudnt be too arsed. Would cost me £400 excess but wouldnt lose my ncb etc because i'm with direct line and i'd get a cheap respray which i could do with.

Thanks everybody so far.

As for the paint stripper used on my car, im TPFT only and wont go fully comp as there isnt much point on a car this old, also D-Line hate the mods, so no thanks, but thank you for the advice on that policy.

  Mk1 Clio F4R'd
Cost me the same to be insured on my name with my mum as second driver. Your story of your 1.2 is very similar to mine, except mine involved rust and not paint stripped :(

loving how clean the car has turned out! Where were the pressed plates from?
