Re-con engines and their cambelts

  The Jinx

How can you tell whether a recon engine has had a cambelt change?

Might be off to look at one that on a 61k recon engine. Should it come with history, the engine?

yeah make sure it has history, if its been recond then it should have a new cambelt as there not expensive.

You cant tell if its had a new cambelt! Fit a new one to reduce the chance of failure anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....Ive seen cambelts fitted by Service shops which have snapped in under 1k...........doesnt happen that often but its worth replacing then YOU know for sure its done!

if the recon engine has done 61k then u wanna know how many miles the car has done and how many miles the engine had done before ?

  The Jinx

Exactly mate. The cars done 67k before the engine blew. The new ones done 61k.

Is it worth looking at do you reckon? Its a 95M for £2.2k. Or should I just leave it be and bide my time til another comes along.

Trouble is I really one one thats as standard as poss, and theyre difficult to come by.

Theres no substitute for getting it done. cause then youve got a parts warranty on the part you buy (go for Renaults own) and any other bits that are fooked if it does snap.
