Re Map for a 197 in the north east

First post so alright everyone!

Just bought a Red 197 today, 07 plate, 20k, couple of options on it such as the xenons, recaros, tints and so o.

The killer is I have to wait 7-10 days for it because one of the recaros is worn so its been replaced, and service, mot new tires etc. apparently the cloth on the side of the recaros do wear so Ill have to be careful with them! Keller waiting for it though want it now haha

Loved the car, the handling compared to my mk4 astra 1.8 Sri is unreal, but im planning on an induction kit and remap to give it a bit more torque low down, and because more power is always a good thing :approve: Im going to leave the exhaust as is probably, although I may go for a back box more for appearence than performance as I dont want it to be stupidly loud. Im not planning on getting serious and changing cams or port and polishing heads etc

Does anybody know of anywhere in the north east that do re mapping and have a good reputation? Im in middlesbrough so Newcastle or Sunderlands not to far away! Also is there any views as to which induction kit/filter are the best bet, I was looking at a K&N induction as they have always seemed to be a sound bet. Wheres best for fitting a backbox and induction kit too? I will probably do the induction kit myself if its not to much of a job. The only time I've dealt with afrench car was when my brother had a pug 309 Gti, it was an absolute pig to work on!

Hi mate, forget about an induction kit, zero benefit just gives a nice sound. If you are prepared to travell a little head into leeds, to RStuning - a renaultsport specialist. Cant recommend highly enough.

get a filter element rather than induction kit and if u want a bit more sound, just take the top off the filter box and listen to the grunt!

you'll wanna get all other mods done before remap as they'll be able to do a map to suit your mods on your car

not much available for a 197 at the moment anyway, air filter, decat, acoustic valve removal, remap and soon ITB's thats about it!

If its worth it I do with the ITG! I might have adrive down to RS tuning then, think ill take the b roads there

For a exhaust only 1 place to go in the north east. AAS in Newcastle brilliant quality custom systems.

As for a remap go see paul at Rstuning top bloke and does great mapping.

ITG make a lot of racing cars air filters, so they are as good as it gets

i would leave the exhaust as u get quite a nice note anyway, engine mods first

just remember to map the car last - complete other mods first as Paul can customise the map to get the full benefit of your mods

Right ill do that then cheers, Ill probably run the car for a while 1st anyway before i do anything to it, month or 2 atleast anyway and leave a re map till last. Reading about the acoustic valve removal, does that make any difference and is it a pretty easy sunday afteroon job? Is there many people on here up in the north east?

Another vote for Paul @ RST. Pretty certain that what ever cars I buy over the comming years, Paul will be visited, regardless of adding any performance mods.

I've used AAS before and the quality of their systems are top notch. I know of a remapping place in Boldon Colliery but not sure if they're any good...

RST in leeds, is the only person to have touched my ECU, it will stay that way

do the drive, otherwise u will be lettin the car and yourself down

Easy job, the acoustik valve mate, makes a very slight difference to noise only!

Anyone done a how to guide type thing on the acoustic valve?

8 Days and counting till i pick the car up, its murdering me, only good thing is with my old car I can kick its head everytime i drive it now its about to go haha
