Re-newing front brakes myself - advice

Ok, im looking to replace the disks and pads on the front of my mk1 1.2 clio.

Anything i shud be paying special attention to? Looking in the Hayes it shows theres only 2 bolts holding the disks on. Just a case of undoing them and putting the new ones on?

Also i need some threa locking fluid, wud these come with the new disks?

Was thinking of going down Quick fit for a free brake check afterwards.

Any other advice appreciated, overall a difficult or easy job?

easy job mate. do a search as this has been posted plenty of times before mate. thread lock doesnt come with the pads you would have to buy that seperate.

As jay says its a really easy job, im not much of a mechanic and i manged to change the disks and pads on my mk 1 1.4 last week. Hardest part is loosening the bolts on the caliper and removing the bar that holds the pads in place that is if the 1.2 has the same brake setup as the 1.4.

i also changed em myself on my 1.4 if u find ur breaks squeel after they have bedded in u might wanna put some copper grease on the back of the pads!minne did to f**k until i done this.

Yep piece of piss, only problem that pops up is the little screws that hold disc on, they can be a bugger to get off, especially without and impact driver and suitable cross head bit. But have no qualms if you have to drill them out as you can get by without them!

If theyre the same brakes as mine, the ones held in by a little slider at one end of the caliper, dont clean the calipers with a wire brush as I was advised to. f**king brake pads fell out in the middle of town!

Well, When I needed to change my front discs/pads.. I upgraded (Well, Weight did.. hehe.) the whole setup to a 16v/Williams. Id say its definetly worth it!

Discs/Pads were same cost.. so I only have to pay an extra £40 for the 16v/Williams Calipers!
