Rear Shocks (with vid)

  Golf GTD Mk7
Hi guys, just taken off the rear dampers to ckeck them, here is what if found?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDFIKe8bQEk

They look ok, no leaks, but one of them is very loose when pushed right in (shown on the vid and it makes a noise). both felt the same to push down, and both recoil the same. Any ideas?

They should work identically, so something's up. Just as an aside, with the back skipping out, you hadn't just put a load of tyre black on had you?

no mate, although i've never had any problems with tyre blackner before.only put it on the very edges

its only loose where when you see me pumping it, when its hissing. Up to that point its as stiff as the other

As I said, it stands to reason that they should both operate in the same way. Tyre black can cause problems if you put it on, the deflection of the tyre is more than you'd think, but it depends how hard you're pushing it.

will do, thanks. The next question would be, do i need to change both, or should i just do the one that appears dodgy, and do i go for OEM ones? Are there any others on the market that are worth a look?
