Rear wheel bearings - Question

Has anyone on here done a Mark 1 Clio rear wheel bearings without a press?

If so what did you use and how did you do it?

Ive managed to get a bearing out of a drum, it destroyed the bearing though. I used a old 30mm socket a piece of wood that was just the right size and a vice clamp. Used the same method to press the new one in. I wouldnt recommend it though.

Just use a large socket and a hammer and tap it out from behind.
They come out fairly easily.
Just make sure you remove the circlip first or it will never come out.

Then if you are putting a new one in, clean the inside and lightly coat with engine oil, slot the new bearing in place and use the outer shell only of the old bearing to tap it back into place.
It will make a different sound at it goes fully home.

Just make sure you tap it in evenly turning the disc as you go.
Replace the circlip.

You will need Circlip pliers to remove the circlip..it can be done but is quite difficult and you can end up squeezing all the greese out..not good.
