Rear wheel locking up

  172
It took me about a minute to find the new 'New Thread' button...

I am having a few problems with me rear wheel/s? locking when i brake hard on my MK1 Clio. I am pretty sure its only the one side locking when harsh braking, especially in the wet. I have put a rear axle from an RSI so i could run rear discs a couple of weeks ago. I have only just started to notice this problem, i am pretty sure it's only on one side.

I'm running:
  • Goodridge brake lines all round
  • Greenstuff pads all round
  • Williams calipers all round
  • KTEC drilled front 285mm disc kit
  • RSI rear axle
  • KTEC drilled rear discs
Anyone have any ideas?

I'm no expert, but i'm guessing it's not a good idea to have brakes as powerfull on the back as it is the front? Rear have to do sod all compared to front to lock up.

Firstly do you have ABS? if so have you connected it correct?

Have you bled the brak lines.

Have you have the brake bias valve setup correct?

I don't have ABS, i have bled the brakes twice. Do the MK1's have an adjustable brake bias? My one hasn't got the one on the rear beam.

Thanks for the replies

If your car doens't have ABS then you should have a attachment bar on the rear axle to the body which takes account of how the rear beam sit and ajusted the pressure on the lines accordingly you need to adjust this if you lower the car else the car thinks its got weight in the back and henbce the rear brakes work and cause trouble.
