Rear Wiper Problem

I did a search but couldn't find anything to help me.

My car was serviced a few weeks back and they put a new rear wiper blade on. But it doesn't wipe the top of the window. By this I mean as it doesn't wipe the full window when the wiper is vertical.

Had advice from my Mum who said that the blade sometimes needs stretching out coz they bunch up. True?? Anyway, I wiggled the blade but it's still not wiping properly. Is this something that can be sorted or do I need to go buy a new wiper blade?

hmmm you might want to have a look at the blade it might not be all the way across the arm, you know like it might of slid down a tad resulting in it not wiping properly. if your that bothered you could get some RainX and cover the back window in it so that when the rain hits it, it just bead's down, i do that cos i hate wiping the back window lol

Already been fiddling with the blade. It's on properly just not wiping properly. Got some "RainAway" stuff on it but I prefer to wipe it to get a better view.

I had a new Bosch rear wiper fitted at my last service. It also misses the very top section of the window. The problem is not with the wiper blade or arm, but with the shape of the windscreen. If you look at from the side of the car, you'll see that it curves in at the top, towards the roof/spoiler. Because of this, the wiper blade will never quite wipe the very top of the windscreen, but it's only the very top inch or so.

you could try gettin an aero wiper for the back they bend to the window

you aren't on about the very top of the window are you?
If you are, have a close look and you'll notice the window curves in slightly so the wiper can't quite catch it

mine has never touched the top of the window tbh. always misses about 15-25mm.

Right, my old wiper used to wipe using the whole blade. This wiper only wipe with half the wiper whilst vertical.

Do I need a new one or is there something I can do to it to make it use the who wiper?

The wiper I had before was a spare that my Mum had for her old 52 reg 1.4 dynamique+ clio.

???? U get annoyed that ur wiper wont reach the very top of its range so instead ur just gona get rid of it all together? lol bit drastic. But still do it itll look mint

Take it off and try gently bending it very slightly. Put it back on and see if it makes a difference.

This happened to me a few months ago. Went to my local car spares/accesories shop and they fit me a new rear wiper blade then when i came to use it,it only cleared half way up the rear window! I thought it had been fitted wrong so i tried fixing it but it was still the same,i went back to the shop and explained and the manager overheard,apparently you cant not just buy any make replacement blade,only certain one's fit the car/window with it being curved at the top,so he ordered me another one from a supplier,fitted it the next day and its been fine,just like the one i took off. Ive just had a look at mine and the only name/make i can see on it is Valeo. Hope this helps

I've always had genuine renault wipers on the back and only 1 of them has fully wiped the window at the top.. it only misses a couple of inches so it doesn't bother me. Guess its just luck as to whether it works

You're an absolute star Lisa. Bought the wiper off ebay and it now wipes perfectly!! Thanks ever so much for your help!!!!
