rear wiper problem

hello

just got my first clio today which is a 182 cup and found that when i try to squirt the rear washer jet the front washers squirt out water not the rear but the rear wiper still works ok?

im guessing this is a electrical problem with the stalk?

just wondered if it was a common fault or anything?

also while im hear any other common things i should check out of a 182?

Hi maaaxm. I'm guessing if you pull to squirt the front that is still correct? Could be a blockage in the pipe to the back this cold wweather won't help.

hi thats for the reply...yeah if i pull it in for the fronts thats fine just when i go to wash the rear it squirts out the front but the rear wiper goes lol

The seal has gone in the washer pump itself. You need a new washer pump. Genuine only I'm afraid!

If you go down the pattern parts route, you will almost always get the pump type with the pickup going straight down into the washer bottle. Because the sports (apart from a cup) have headlight washers its a slightly different set up. The pick up is mounted into the bottle horizontally.

Things may of changed now though.

You can get an aftermarket pump for the 182 - its about £6, it is not listed as a Clio pump, but for the Megane Mk2.

It has a square shaped elec. connector and correct angled input, not as good quality as OEM (@£27) but will work.

PS. The pump for the Clio MKII and 172 is not correct for the 182, - may as well replace both pumps for the price whist you are at it - the other pump is for the Xenon washers.
