Not really old now is it - they have only just sent the recall letters out over the last week.:rasp:

I was going to ask the same thing as my Mum got one of the letters but as no one seems to be in a helpful mood won't bother you guys!

this is how s**t they are. I got my car june 2007. I then received a letter october 2008 saying we sent a letter in may 2007 (didnt own the car yet) about recalling clios for bonnet checks and that i havn't replied or been since. HOW SLOW!! lol went in and took 2 hours!!!!!!!!!! i was not happy.

I had my recall this morning.

They also do a 'xx' point check on your car:
-Brakes
-Tyres
-Fluids etc etc

They then rate it:
Red - urgent attention
Amber - Needs attention
Green - Its fine

Unfortunatley for me i got two reds:
- New pads and disks
- New suspension spring

Apparently my spring is snapped :(

so all in all recall cost me £240

Hmm Renault wanted 350 for the same job.
Local Garages fit my budget a bit more

All this after putting a new left arm on it last week for £85.

Bad times.

When they sent the last lot out my Mum's wasn't one of the ones to be recalled I checked. So this must be a new thing?

mines on thur and when they find something they can feck off and ill go a cheap place. I know my cv boot has a crack in it but get that done for £50 when they'll want £150

Maybe a sensible reply now which acctually answers the guys question?

Took mine in today, They had it for 2 fooking hours.

Replaced the bonnet catch with a shiny new one and but grease all over it so my hands got manky when i checked it.

Also did there "Safety Check" and came back with a list and £200 of stuff wrong with the car lol

Near-Side CV-Joint leaking aparently
Gearbox oil needs changed
Rear Foglight is out

They said, shall we proceed with the repairs? I said you shall certainly not, gimme the list and il take it elsewhere lol

  Mk6 Fiesta Zs
done mines about 2weeks ago now. took half an hour. shiney new bonnet catch but the b******s just ticked all the boxes. sat n watched him do the bonnet then f**k off. typical renault really...

And for all you guys saying its old news? its not

Original letters went sent ours years ago but since only about 20% of owners responded they sent them out again and again nobody responded so they will keep sending them out and keep putting it on Watchdog etc until all cars have been checked and ticked off the list.

Lmfao, 2 hours, thats nothing, they had mine for a full day, and every time i phoned said they needed a little longer, did the hour bus journey after it had been there for 5 hours, they sat me in the nice bit, and when i went to leave they asked where i was going "for a fag i said" turned out they didnt want me to leave because i was about to see one of their guys just bother to go get it and check the catch.

If yours hasnt been recalled, give them a ring. They'll book you in, dont expect a mircale though!

f**king joke!

You dont need a letter, just g in and say you want it booked in, its such a common fault that everyone at Renault knows what your on about anyway.
And when they give you the list of stuff wrong, dont believe any of it

The check is free though, as is the replacement catch if you need it. How is that getting money off you? :S

Everyone knows about it. or at least they should. Stick Clio problems in Google and see what it says.

and oh course its old news. If you only found out about 9/11 today, does that make it current affairs?

why so harsh?:(

I knew about it the first time round as I said before and checked on the tinterweb whether my Mum's was one of the models that needed to be checked and at that time it wasn't. They seem to have started a new batch

Never listen to Renault when they tell you new pads and discs are needed. Check yourself. I was told my rear discs and pads needed changing at 12k miles. I'm now at 47k miles on the same discs and pads. Robbers. Similar thing happened to a friend also.

i did 80,000 miles on a set of rear pads.

Discs are still going strong at 90,000

Just checked my bonnet catch and its a little on the rusty side . Gonna contact Renault now!

I thought it was just for the mk2 ph2. Glad i did a bit of searching now!

Ah, i used to think like this untill i asked the mechanic what the crack was and he said ''pads and disks might be ok now but not by the time the next service is due''

In other words they like to replace things in advance not when the item is actually fooked

Good official line for ripping people off. Personally I think I'll periodically check things myself rather than replace a set of good brake discs 'cos in another 12k miles they might be fucked. Roffle.

As I said, in my example, Renault told me they were "worn below safe limits". That was 35,000 miles ago. If we replaced everything because they might be worn by the next service, I'd have had half my car replaced by now. Sorry, if you want to fall for that yarn then go right ahead and throw your money away :D
