reccomend me a clio

hey guys, just joined up here as i thought this was the best place to ask about clios :D

basically ive just written off my x reg fiesta zetec - s ( :( ) and was looking at a 1.6 clio of the 01- on variety. got about 4k max to spend and was wondering what kind of condition / spec i could get for this? I'm only 19 and just having crashed i won't be able to insure a 172 ect.

any help appreciated, thanks, Luke

heh, i loved that car, was brilliant to drive, was'nt very quick but felt like it was - which was probably safer! :) anyways, still not sure what i want, is cruise / climate ect worth it? how do they handle?

Before we give you advice the standard procedure is that we require pics of the wreck and full details of how it happened IIRC.

road was wet + muddy with nowhere to go, on a hill, and was still raining. overconfidence on both parts, head on - both going same speed and both still moving on hit so 50 / 50. doesnt look too bad externally but engine mount snapped under the bonnet ect ect.

Hi there and welcome to CS! You will learn alot about clios on here i assure you :approve:

Sorry to hear about the accident, if its a 50/50 can you not decide to just not claim off insurance as its not your fault? Because his insurance will fix his car for him?? Or am i wrong lol.

What area do you live in pal? As insurance mainly boils down to post code more than age. For 4k you can get a VERY decent clio even a PH1 172 and have a good £1300+ change from 4k which would contribute to insurance. What would you rather :rasp:

Very good point. I normally wouldnt advocate buying a PH1 anymore, but in this case it is very much something to think about.

Superb, I didn't actually expect you to post the pictures up, doesn't look like the closing speed on that collision was very fast - lucky really. Hope you didn't get any serious injuries.

I can't really help you with choosing a lower spec I'm afraid, since the mk1 I have only owned RenaultSport mk2s and a mk3. You should at least look at the insurance for a 172 if only to see how high it will be, you could get a tasty 172 for that price or a nice 1.6 16v.

Get another zetec-s mate. A 1.6 clio will never be as much fun unless you mod it.

+1

The old Zetec S are a pretty decent car. I would prefer one to a 1.6 Clio. Saying that though, a few decent mods (suspension etc) would make it just as enjoyable as the Zetec.
