Recent juddering when setting off in first :(

  Renault Clio Extreme
Hi everyone,

Had a 1.2 16v 2002 plate clio for about a year and a half now..
The biting point has always been sooo high, so getting used to it took a while.
Recently i'm really struggling when in first gear, it's really juddery when i'm in first, as if i'm going to stall it, and i feel like i really have to rev it in case i stall.
Maybe coincidence but seems to happen more often when it's raining?
Took it to the local garage and he said the clutch didn't need replacing, but I need a new ABS ring, (when i brake in first it sometimes crunches) but apart from that clutch wise says it's all good? I feel conscious because i feel like it's me being a rubbish driver, but I hate coming up to junctions now or on a hill :(
Any ideas? Definately not me because the bite is high enough as it is.

Certainly sounds clutch related. Where are you based, as it'll be worth your while going to a specialist for a second opinion!

+1 sounds like clutch to me. . High clutch is an indication if I'm not mistaken. .

I know it's always been high he said most are high biting points but it's just getting ridiculous :(
Gonna be an expensive job though I guess!

When my clutch went on my 1.2 it didn't feel juddery or 'stall like'; More like a lack of power through slipping. Basically, imagine revving through first gear and then pressing your clutch in while keeping the accelerator down. Like that.

Had mine replaced and the bite is still pretty high.. Clios FTW.

My mate had the exact same problem on his Corsa Sri and that turned out to be contaminated clutch plates - brand new clutch but the guy fitting it managed to do a bad job and get oil all over meaning it slipped and juddered all the time especially when setting off. His lasted for ages it's just a case of if you can put up with it or not
