A well built VW
This has to have been the Hardest ever car i have done. The owner and i both knew we would not be able to get it perfect (the car is 20yrs old) as it had been neglected by the previous owner for far too long.
This was purely a detail to get the paintwork looking as best as i could.
To give you an idea once the wash process had been completed i set about the worst panels i.e. roof and bonnet all (luckly the owner has been polishing the boot by hand for the last 4 weeks so had removed a lot of the oxidisation already) exposed to sun and faded and oxidised and looking very dull. I recently bought some britemax polishes especially for this car to give them a try so out with #1,#2 and #3 at various stages and also resorted back to Menz 106,91 and the rd twins I also used some carlack 68 trying every pad i had and resorted to some wet sanding with 2000 and 3000 megs unigrit in some places. Once all the polishing had been completed it was given a minimum of 2 coats of Megs #16 pro paste wax applied by hand i find this method so much better and gives much better coverage.
I should point out that the car had some panels that had been laquered and some that had not, Is this unusual or what ?
Personally i was not quite 100% happy with the outcome but at this point had simply ran out of ideas and as i don't own a PTG did not want to take it any further but all that mattered was the owners reaction when he saw it and he was simply amazed at the transformation and well chuffed Job done !!!. Feedback and opinions as always appreciated Anyway enough talk i'll let you see the pics now
Befores
This one shows you how bad the plastic where on the car - The owner has already made a start respraying these bits
And the afters
This is how the roof finished up
and the boot
And the bonnet
And the few bits that got away
The car had a few of these marks before and polishing did nothing to help them
