Had an MOT, failed on strut top bearing and play in steering rack. Changed the bearing and the rack and theres still play !! !! Had a look at the column and i can see where the play is !! But how do i weld it up ? anyone done this ?

i need to sort mine as well mate as my MOT has run out. The cars not ont eh road at the min due to gearbox being shafted. heres a pic i was sent!

mi dads an ex welder but hes only got electric welder left i think. dont want to blow the car up!

Woohooooo just done it !! Cheers for your help Craig !! We took the column out of the car, just as easy and my carpet wont set on fire !!

Steering is 10x better know !! no play at all !! If anyone needs any info just ask !! Plus Craig we used an electric welder !!

What other welder you gonne use?

Oxy-acetalene!!! now that will set it onfire.

Yeah i was wondering about that, maybe me ment his dad only had an old arch welder, as opposed to something more moderm like a MIG welder?

yeah thats what i meant. mi old man reckoned if he used it it would probably fuk all the car up. but it would be ok if it was out the car! he said he needed a mig welder for it really! hes owned it about 30+ years.
