Refurbished Sachs (and info for Trophy owners)

  M2 Comp
Got my dampers back from BG Motorsport a couple of weeks ago so thought I'd upload some photos... They've had a full rebuild; including powder coating, replacement shafts, adjuster upgrade, and of course, new stickers!

BG were great to deal with from start to finish and I would definitely recommend them

Anyway, here's some photos...

New stickers:

Adjuster upgrade:

I also ordered some replacement gaitors from BG to help protect the shafts. The originals tend to deteriorate over time and Renault don't supply replacements. The gaitors from BG are around £25+VAT from memory.

Here's how the gaitors come from BG:

You'll notice there a fair bit bigger than the original gaitors so they need cutting down to fit. The photo below shows the gaitors once cut down compared with the original gaitor.

The original bump stops can be used and fit perfectly

And a final photo showing them on the dampers with new springs...

Thanks for reading!!
The replacement gaiters look like they are designed to fit the inner tie rods on a steering rack as you can see where the cable tie/metal spring clamp would sit on each end. Not a bad idea but I be surprised if there as durable as the original covers.

They certainly seem better quality than the originals, which I can assure you aren't that durable. The gaitors are manufactured by Öhlins as far as I can see, which would make sense given BG are authorised suppliers of their products. I searched the part number and it comes back as a gaitor for front forks.

Bloody lovely job in them!!

Sachs dampers are just p**n

Thanks mate. I'm really pleased with them, just need to get them fitted and enjoy the car again (hasn't been on the road for 10 months now!).

A women fisting herself and pushing out a rose bud the size of a cricket ball is p**n...

I have to agree with Daniel, but each to their own 😂

It's really not.

You f**king weirdo.

Lol, see above

Awesome stuff Marc, they look perfect.

Who's Marc?! Thanks though mate...

Awesome! Need to get mine done before summer!

Well I'd definitely recommend BG for when the time comes, the service was faultless from start to finish. I'd start saving now though if I was you!

Cost all in ?

A lot!! My bill came to just over a grand, but a basic refurb starts from around £400. With mine, both shafts needed replacing (£120 each) and the 'optional extras' bump the bill up a fair bit. I don't have any plans to sell the car so I'm sure I'll get my monies worth!

Did you go for the R1 scarper dust seal ?
I still have another set to send away and get done but as i have just taken them off the car and fitted my new ones I'm in no rush at the moment.

They just remind me of mine when i got them done at the same price as you paid :frowning:🙈

I thought about it but decided I'd spent enough money. Maybe next time...
