Rejecting Clio Cup

  LY R27

Hi,

After 6 trips to the dealer with gearbox troubles (and other problems) I have finally had enough. Renault are currently putting in a new gearbox, this is the final straw for me.

So I have been speaking to Renault UK (which have all my complaints on computer and have a manager looking at my case) and they tell me I need to wright a letter to my local dealer rejecting the car. Any help on wrigting the letter, I am not to good at this thing, any help would be much appreciated. :(

first thing, get your facts sorted and understand what laws are supporting your case. Speak to the CAB. Once thats done, write to reno using facts - dont let the letter get emotive, keeping it factual and outline how you want them to remedy your problem. Give them seven days to reply and send the letter recorded delivery.

good luck.

Crunching when changing gear, noise from gearbox at 30 to 70mph, rattles from the gearbox, the list goes on. At first I thought its a renault what do you expect, but now I think not, I payed 11.5K for this machine I want my money back or a new CUP!

Dear Reno

The cup you sold me is cracked and Id like a refund or a non cracked one

Seriously though, when you write the letter, be factual and to the point. State each problem youve had, and when it was sent to them for warrenty fixing. Id also mention that you have been communicating with Renault HO and have their full support in the matter.

My Cup had a few problems and in the end RUK told me to reject it through the dealer. I tried that and the dealer responded that it didnt fall into the rejection category as outlined by RUK!! Hmmm....

Problems were:

2,500 miles - new clutch

5,000 miles new ecu

7,500 miles new gearbox

God knows whats going to happen at 10,000

I would also put in a claim for compensation for the inconvenience of all the trips to the dealership. Say £30 pounds an hour. Thats about what they charge for their labour isnt it? And also charge for all the letters or phone calls you have had to make as well as the fuel for taking the car in. This isnt a joke. They have a responsibility to their customers.

I think i might have a problem on my car, i get a burning smell if i rev the engine hard and when i use the clutch a lot on hills etc, is my clutch f*cked???

Should i get it fixed under warranty?

Ive been very lucky with my Cup (touch wood) and have only had one minor thing wrong with it (a seal started to leak slightly in the gear box, noticed when oil was changed) There seem to be a lot of Friday afternoon Cups about! Ive done 6 k miles and dont even have the 4 k rattle? Can someone explain why some cars have these problems? Is it the way the person drives it? Or just varying strengths of components used?

Hi mate,

I rejected a new CTR not long ago,i wrote a letter to Honda UK telling them i was rejecting the car as it was sold to me not fit for the purpose it was designed for.

I also said i was recinding the contract between myself and the car.

They swapped it in the end for another new one, keep persivering and youll win mate.

Renault gave me £200 after the ecu problem. Yet to receive anything for the gearbox problem but havent had a lot of time to push them hard about the rejection recently...
