Remapping - renault specialists?

Afternoon all,

Recently traded in my Clio 1.2 for a Laguna dCi (I know! I did love that little car but I needed more room) and want it mapping as it could do with a bit more ummph. I know it's not a Clio but this seems as good a place as any to ask about Renault specialists in general, especially as googling hasn't really thrown up a Laguna owner's forum!

I'm in Runcorn so anywhere in the North West is fine for me. It's the 1.5 dCi model so it produces 110bhp out of the box - all I want doing is a remap for better economy/power/torque, no engine mods or anything.

Any suggestions?

If it's just a pre made map, any idiot could do it... Don't travel if it's just plug and play, they aren't doing anything special...

Efi parts does custom but I'm sure he has far more powerful cars to be working his magic in..

Don't go to any old back street re-map place tho, because any idiot can buy the kit and the pre-made maps and start flashing ECU's.

^ How's that any different to anywhere else? Unless paying big $$ then you are only going to get a generic map anyway.

A decent generic mapper will at least give the car a thorough once over before starting to monkey around with the ECU, if they find any faults or anything they'll either sort it out or tell you to come back when it is done.

Nothing worse than sticking a remap on a car thats already got a boost leak and EGR issues.

Problem is I know of a guy that couldn't identify a spark plug, who decided to start the remapping thing.. It's amazing how floating around the car forums and Facebook groups can spin you a web of bullsh1t that would fool most into thinking he was hardly qualified to boil a kettle.. I just hope the other lads he went in with knew something, but to be honest I think the was just a group of guys that spotted a chance to make easy money from guys that actually think an air filter adds 10bhp

Unfortunately thats an all too common occurrence.
It's when they've flashed a couple of ECU's on a Diesel then decide they can fully remap a turbo'd petrol motor that things go from bad to worse.

It's one guy and he doesn't need to advertise..

He's booked up pretty solid till 2019 I expect..
