Remember the Renault Clio Williams

"Well, the first time we knew about it was when they told us they were going to sell 2500 of the things. We had no imput at all"

Patrick Head, Williams tech boss.

Just read this in the new Top Gear magazine when they interview him about any in.put they had with the V10 thats in the new M5.

Wonder if we will see a Honda Civic BA type R?????

So if Renault engines were still used in Williams F1 cars would we have a williams edition instead of a cup or cup pack....

No doubt we would, to the dismay of original Williams owners im sure!

Does Renault make the F1 engines in-house? Currently we could have a Clio 172 Mild Seven..or maybe a Clio 172 Elf..! lol.

Shame Alonso doesnt have a more alluring name, a Clio 172 Schumacher would certainly be more impressive.

Prob would be a new Clio Williams BUT - dont forget that the Williams is just a Renault parts bin special.

It is just a name. A good car but just a name none the less.

Some one posted pics of an BMW M3 Williams edition a while ago?

Think they do build them, but i thought they were pulling out of F1 cos Ford want out. Is the F1 part of cosworth still owned by Ford?

Did you see that yellow Renault Megane Trophy in this months top gear?

Its got the 3.5l v6 from the Nissan 350z.

dont cosworth still make engines for the mondeo ST220? and dont they also make engines for aston martin??

But a RWD cosworth Clio would be mental!!!!! You just know they would stick a turbo on it,!

Now i wouldnt mind seeing a rear enginged megane v6 in either 3L or 3.5L form, or a FEngined RWD megane with the above engines. Come on Renault, listen to the customers

Cosworth only made a turbo engine for the Sierra Cosworth didnt they?

The Granada was a jumped up XR4 lump and the Merc Cossies that came out were never turbo?

4x4 Megane Cosworth that can hit 60 in sub 5 seconds is what you should all want.

The problems would be Renault build quality matching the Cosworth name really. Also insurance, cost of development and price of the finished article.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bet you didnt know that when Cosworth and Ford 1st got together that they only designed a performance head as an aftermarket option. Then Ford gave them the green light to develop the whole engine. What most people dont know is that Cosworth then spent most of the time getting the power DOWN to 204 bhp as Ford didnt think it would go down very well being a family orientated car.

The only reason the 4x4 was 227 bhp was to compensate for power lost through additional transmission.

Imagine if Cosworth hadnt had that restriction.......

  FN2 Type R +MK6 Golf

Some of cosworths first engines were 1.5s with nearly 1500bhp.....and the original cossie block for the first 3-door sieras was a transit van bottom end...

mikeCOStin and keith duckWORTH were the founders of the company funily enough

Yeah the rwd Cossie had a weaker block from the pinto engine and stronger gearbox and clutch. The 4x4 had a stronger engine and weaker gearbox and clutch. (exclude escort)

Best combo is a rwd with 4x4 engine!
