Removing air con heat exhanger/rad from blower unit

  HBT 172 Cup
Just removed the air con stuff from my Cup, the last part to come out is the rad unit from the blower unit. I can't for the life of me figure out how it comes out, the whole unit is really shoe horned in. Has anyone else done this before or is there a guide anywhere? I dont want to leave it like it is because it looks bodgetastically s**t so would rather remove the rad.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Try the old burpspeed thread but there's also details on the puremotorsport aircon delete kit fitting guide.

Eurghh i dont look forward to doing this.

Puremotorsport doesnt mention bolts inside the cabin??

I think I saw the mention of them when I skimmed the guide, they are above the pedals, really not hard to take out (Especially when you have snapped the unit it with pliers piece by piece ;) )

Edit: 4th last page in PMS guide :approve:

PITA to remove intact.

3 / 4 bolts in the scuttle panel floor, 4 bolts inside the cabin (behind the dash) and the wiring / plugs...

To save making a new thread ill post in here.

I did this job at the weekend, remove the blower box fully and removed the rad. Not the most fun job, time consuming but not actually "hard". However now i can hear a rattle or vibration from the box while driving along which is pissing me off royally.

I want to replace the whole blower unit for a 172 cup item or a ph2 pov spec. My question is obviously CC'd 172's have the recirc, this is a letter box shaped hole on the bulkhead to pump air back in that the blower box bolts to.

If i swapped for a non CC blower box, what happens to this hole, is there a blanking plate on the pov spec? or is it a different design?

Thanks
