I have gone over my car touching-up a few stone chips with a paint pen from Renault. I now need to blend it in, removing little areas of paint where too much has gone on. Is clay the best thing to use for this or polish?

I had to do that on my drivers door - dog jumped up at the window and ran its paw on the door leaving a 4" deep scrape
Got it touched in, left to dry then went over it gently with wet&dry 2000 paper.
The paintwork looked as if it faded to a light grey which makes you worry for a moment -
Meguiars Scratch-X, a good microfibre cloth and plenty of elbow grease soon sorted that out - I was well pleased
