Removing front seats to fit Sparcos

  RS RIP
As above i'm wantng to fit my new buckets soon..

Any tips on how to remove the OE seats (Cup) . I was looking under the seats last week and could see a lot of connectors , also the pretensioner for the belt is in the way..

I've already read on here that you should unbolt the seats from below under the car? but how do i have to go about the pretensioner for example... i want to use my regular seatbelt with the buckets ; do i have to put the pretensioner back in place and hook everything up again ??

Help me please as i have no idea of what i'm doing

  Whichever has fuel
all you need: Axle stands, 13mm long reach socket and a cup of tea.

You will have them out in about 10 minutes, tops. Make sure the Exhaust is cold. I made the mistake of trying to do mine after a 40 minute journey and burnt my wrist several times.

this might give you a better idea.........

those two bolts go through the same holes as the OE seat, as said^^ its just a 13mm socket under the car....

there are then two more bolts near the handbrake, which are accessed by looking up past the center section while under the car, they are obvious when you see them...

excellent replies guys thanks..

What bout the wiring and stuff, does it have to do with airbagsensors etc.? Do i have to take power off the batter before unplugging everything ? And do the buckles still work (tension) when this wiring is no longer connected ?

What to do with the wiring when fitting the buckets thats the main thing..

thanks again

because the seats have airbags in them, you will have to put a 3.3ohm resistor in one of the plugs, to stop the airbag light coming on (i cant remember if its the grey or black one, im sure someone will)....

now because you want to use your original seatbelt you just unbolt the pretensioner unit from the old seat, bolt it to the frame of the new seat and plug the connector back in, and you should be away....

if makavelli doesnt see this, it might be worth pm'ing him as he has aftermarket seats with standard belts i think!

been told the cups have no airbags in seats anyway, so easy job

yes this is right .. but still when i looked under the seat there are a lot of wires there. Just not for the airbags , okay ..
so must just be the pretensioner-wires... Do i have to take power off the battery when disconnecting the wires under the seats ?

There's also a guide on all of this written b DjwJohn, pretty similar to what foxy has said though.

when i had a look under the seats and saw all the wiring and tight space to work in made me nervous... claustrofobic almost !

Now i've learnt to remove them from below the car i feel better.

..does battery need disconnecting for just the pretensioners ?

he means the guides section, you cant see it if you're not a member....so if you search and threads match that are in that section, they wont show because you are not a member

What he means is there is a Guide section, with loads of useful stuff on it, only assessable to members.
