Removing gearstick (and surround)

I've got a B&M that I want to get fitted tomorrow (please no "bye bye gearbox" responses :))

It's 2nd hand and came already fitted into the plastic surround so I guess it's just 4 nuts underneath and the whole lot drops out
Question is though - I'm assuming heat shield will need removing but will it come out past my K-Tec exhaust?

If I have to disconnect the exhaust and move it out the way I might just try fitting the B&M to the existing plastic surround

Is that just a case of undoing the c-clip that holds the bearing in place?

There's a guide for gear shift removal on here mate... Have a search. I'd find it for you but it's not easy on the iPhone.

You can take the gearstick housing out by removing the squre heatsheild from above the cat with 4 bolts, then undo the 4 visible clips holding the heatsheild just after the manifold (just to give you room manovering the unit) you should then see the gear stick housing, disconnect the gear linkage then undo the 4 bolts to remove the housing, you can pull the whole unit through the bottom of the car fit whatever you bought in B&M and put it back in reverse..
