so bought a San francsico II from orange a couple years back now i guess... whenever it came out, and then asap got it unlocked (through orange to keep my warranties etc) unfortunately i cant uninstall any of the "default apps" such as orange this and orange that, and i'm running out of space!! 
(now that facebook app takes up 40+MB!!!)
I've heard you might have to "root" it or something? I used to think i was good at software and things... but turns out i only know the surface of things... and havent got a clue what i'm doing.... heard you can get locked out of your phone or something or other??????
basically just calling out for someone in the know to help/tell me how to update the Android OS to something newer, where all the features of the phone will still work as they should. a friend of mine has done something similar, but the front camera stopped working or something or other. (on a SF2)
