Removing rear platfrom on coilovers

I have heard of the adjusting platform being removed on colovers to get the

rear lower.

How easy is this to do?

Do you need to undo the shock?

How much difference does it make to the height and more importantly the

handling?

I have FK konigsports by the way

iirc about 10mm lower with the platform removed.
