Removing std Mk1 172 Alarm

  172 ph1
My alarm keeps going off when I open the doors. It used to do it if I opened the doors too quickly after disarming it, but now it is doing it more often, say 5 seconds after disarming.

Anyway it's embarrasing, so if someone could tell me how to disable it that would be great. PM is fine as I'm sure people get a bit sensitive about talking about things like this.

Thanks to anyone who helps.

My alarm on my 182 was not working when i first got it, i found it had been disconnected under the dash as it was going off intermittently, if you look under the dash abover the passenger footwell you may see a harness wrapped in insulation tape with a 6 pin black connector block with blue sides, just pull apart that connector block and that should disable the alarm, that's if it is the standard alarm and is wired the same on the 172.

Sorry, this is no real help but mine used to do this. If I opened and locked the car straight away then opened it again it would go off. Had a bump and buggered the alarm up totally and when I had the car back it was fixed.

Have you checked the pin switches especially the one under the bonnet to see if they are working properly, and maybe next time you arm the alarm disable the ultrasonic sensors just to rule out a problem there.
