I specialise in Renault alarms, first the few basic checks you can do, I have found on a few occasions that the interior sensors (the ones on the screen posts) are not facing the rear screen, this causes false triggers.
The sensors must be facing the rear screen.

The next thing to check is that your heater vents are shut when you leave the car.
But failing that its most likely to be the alarm control unit at fault.
If thats the case then its a dealer only job.

Yeah i checked the sensors the turned them off just to make sure. Ive tried the vents too. The next time i can get it booked in is the 17 december which is a bit of a worry cos its voidin my insurance not havin the alarm on!

Please excuse me for butting in here, but hopefully Mike172sport will re-visit this thread...

Im having alarm trouble too, if I lock my car and then suddenly realise Ive left something in it I need, I have to wait until the little locked doors light goes off before I can get in it again. This takes about 50 seconds and I look like a right tw*t! If I just unlock it before that point, the alarm LED goes mad and if I try to start the car or anything, the alarm just goes off.

Occasionally if I accidently leave the car open overnight and go to unlock it in the morning, I in actual fact lock the car instead. This means I have to sit around waiting too, and on cold days like were having now, this is beginning to annoy me!

Is this normal?

Anyone know of a specialist around chelmsford?

Going to gatecrash this thread with a Willy. (sorry lads)
But Im really struggling with my alarm too at the min.

what my problem is....... when i drive the car, or leave it idling the alarm siren sounds off. Its totally random when it does it. But the indicators dont blink when its doing it.

All my sensors - Bonnet, tailgate, doors, and interior motion sensors work. So that has eliminated them from my list. It recon its just the siren going off. Been to a few garages, but dont fancy paying £40 for someone to tell me its broke.

Cheers for any feedback :)

swapping over the ultrasonic red and white connectors(reduces sensitivity by 40%) normally sorts ultrasonic problems. bonnet switches are commen for getting corroded.alarm sirens can play up as well,a commen repair is to strip down the siren and disconnect the batterys for 10 mins(this resets the siren and removes any electrical spikes within the siren circuitry),rebuild it and refit it.this is something you could try northy-com.

sounds like a siren problem due to your indicators not going off.either the siren is losing its permanent feed or it has an internal problem.try my suggestion in the previous post and see how it goes.

sounds like a problem with the vehicles uch rather than the alarm itself.

SilverRSC, I had exactly the same problem with my alarm. After many useless trips to the dealer, I contacted Renault UK. Another 2 visits later, the alarm specialist phoned Cobra (the alarm manufacturer) and explained that the interior sensor disarming procedure didnt work. Cobra said straight away that it was a known fault and they sent a brand new alarm.

Fitted one week later, Ive had no problems since.

Dont put up with it...get Renault to contact Cobra.

Cheers Jay.

Going to have a go at stripping down the siren. But when I last looked I reconed it was a sealed unit.

Ill keep you posted.
