Renault F**k me in the ass!

  172 Cup

Well Renault you have finally managed to bend me over and well and truly fcuk me up the tea towel holder!

Not content with calling me a liar and seem to have no interest in accepting any responsibility at all.

Let me explain - I am not a new Renault owner, some may recall I had a mk2 172 prior to the cup so Im not naive and expect a "few" problems with Renaults from time to time.

Last night while driving along the central locking decided to start operating itself. Something along the lines of...lock, unlock, lock, unlock, lock, unlock, interior light on, light off, light on.. you get the idea! Later still the alarm goes off. Went outside to check and all is fine, reset the alarm and off it goes again, and again, and again... No choice but to leave it unalarmed all night!

Called Renault this morning to be told we can fit you in next month, 3 weeks to be exact. When I told them my insurance policy requires the car to be alarmed at all times they said ok make it the 14th of July "you should be grateful, were vey busy" Not suprised mate if all your cars are so sh!t.

So this is a thankyou Renault. Within 3 months I have had... Loose passenger seat, missing tools (acused me of nicking them), tracking problems, paint defect on bonnet and now this.

So heres to me spending the next 3 weeks being paranoid that my car gets broken in to!

When they have your money you just become a number to them. Nobody does business the old fashioned way anymore (ie good customer care). Were all just numbers to every corporation. Statistics. It will get worse before it gets better.

kinda makes me glad that i cant afford a new car !!!

i know what id do.....put signs in all the back windows about the problems youve had with the car.......take a pic....then send it to Renualt........tell them that your gonna drive round with all the signs in the windows until you get some sorta satisfaction from them (you aint really...youll take em out) but they dont know that do they ??

Guy round here has got(in his back window):

YES this is a Fiat

And

No i wont be buying another!

Genius, something similar in a photo sent to Reno should solve your problem

thats well bad, demand they give u a courtesy car till then as yopur insurance wont cover for it. RENO are getting worse all the time, something needs to be done, why cant we have a representative approach them on behalf of the club?

  172 Cup

I asked them for a courtesy car, they said 5 week wait!

I suggested that they could keep the car locked up and provide me with a hire car, they said no.

I aksed them to pay for an auto electrician, they said i would have to pay!

Beginning to lose all interest now.

Griff, which dealer are you taking it to?

I booked mine in on Friday to get the knocking from the front end fixed. That was the 20th, they have the car booked in for the 1st of June. I was expecting a much longer wait than that.

Im glad they can get it in as the noise is happening a lot more often now!!

  320d M Sport

thats rubbish, theres no way theres a 5 week waiting list for a car, ask them to source one from another dealers, its really taking the piss now

Youre joking. Thats where mine is going!! I didnt even buy my car from them and they have got me booked in before you.

You might want to be having more words with them!!

Mate I really dont know what to say anymore. They were adament that the 18th of July was the earliest and when I kicked up a fuss they changed it to the 14th of July.

Seems like they can make some money from Renault UK from your warranty work hence they managed to get you booked in ok.

Is the car under warranty? If it is then they are supposed to supply you with a hire car if they dont have any courtesy cars available, go to http://www.renault.co.ukwww.renault.co.uk and look at the warranty section it states it in there, then print the page out and shove it under your dealers noses and tell them to get you a car PRONTO!

  172 Cup

"From time to time dealers will not have a vehicle available from their own resource. In these circumstances they may be able to arrange a hire vehicle for you at a competitive rate from a local rental company."

Basically we cant be arsed to give you a courstesy car but we will HIRE one to you and make a nice profit along the way.

  172, Tiguan

Waht they should do is offer you a hire car at the price itd cost them to hire it.

thats what they offered me.

  Hippys bus of LOVE !!!

Urmmm No ! if theres a fault with the car and Renault cant put it right PRONTO they have to give you a hire car etc etc......

Id talk to the dealers or better still Renault UK customer service department ASAP.....

Id leave the sign out of the back window for now ie. alarm doesnt work ....

You cant hate your car that much ???

Is there a difference between Renault dealers such as "Renault Wolverhampton, Renault Birmingham, Renault x,y,z" and dealers such as "Sutton Park Motor Company Ltd" that sell Renaults?

Thinking I would try another local dealer, Wolverhampton, they couldnt have been more helpful. Booked in within 3 days and they promised a bodyshop technician would be there to meet me to discuss the paint defect.

So in my very limited experience it would seem that dealers with the word "Renault" in the title are more bothered about the customer.

Surely yours is covered by the warranty?

I wonder if the reason they were happy to take mine was because Im paying real money to get an oil and filter change done. Maybe if I was only in for a repair under warranty they would have put my date back too.

Renault Birmingham didnt impress me.

Ive got a mate who works in the Renault Wolverhampton body shop!! Ill make sure gives your car a good thrashing ;)

Ring em, dont tell them who you are, and say you want a full service when they give you a date, then tell em who you are, and say youll have that one for your cup...;)

Where is Jeremy today?

He might be able to help you Griff.

It is true that when you show interest in buying/ordering a new car, salesmen are all over you like a rash. When something goes wrong or there is a delay in delivery they are nowhere to be seen, excuses like "out with a customer", "out on a test drive", "in a meeting" "well have him call you back" which they N E V E R E V E R D O

Just reading their body language shows that they lie through their teeth!

I detest car salesmen and their managers, they have all been to the same training school.

We need a name and shame section, as I want to name and shame Camden Renault in Northampton as the biggest bunch of tos*ers I have ever dealt with. They took 4 weeks to service a friends 02 clio 1.6 and do some minor warranty work (front washer ball). They never gave them a courtesy car, nor valeted the car, just set an airbag off and charged over £200 for the service.

I had mine serviced there not long ago and was charged £210, and was treated like dirt. Never going to them again.

I love the car but hate the dealers.

It would be a good idea to have a "name and shame" section but being positive too why not have a "Recomend" section aswell?

We could have 2 sticky posts at the top of the page where people can enter details about dealers in their area. For example scroll down to West Midlands and have "Recommended Dealers" in 1 section and "Name and Shame" in another.

How about it admin? A disclaimer saying all posts are the views of the individual not the club would stop any agro against cliosport.

I would get used to it, had most of those problems since new and as yet nothing really been done. Still waiting for paint work on rear panel plus seat runners. Cup badges 10 weeks wait. Temperature gauage changed, tracking done twice still not spot on, splitter refitted twice, gaitier to fuse box re-fitted, alloy wheel changed, no tyre foam.

Look in the engine bay at the fuse box to the right of the engine, is the gaiter in properly, if not water would have got in there any may be caused your problems. Had mine fixed as spotted it striaght away.

You will never get any decent service cause of the number of fed up customers. Rejected my car and got laughted at by Renault UK, call them on 0800 0723372, but wouldnt hold your breath.

The service is as un predicatable as the quality of the cars. So far Sutton Park have been fine with me. But then Im only on my second visit to them since getting the car in March. They dont have an issue with the fact that the car came from Motorpoint!

I just hope once this fault is fixed it will behave itself. The only way to be happy with Renault dealer service is to rarely have to experience it!!!

A sticky thread was requested about this a couple of months ago. Maybe there are legal issues.

Just imagine if someone in the UK opened a Renault franchise dealer and offered good service, they would clean up :D

Just put the whole list of dealers up, save time really.
Jeremy should be able to supply a list of all the UK dealers, perhaps on a spreadsheet, and because there are members and users from all over the UK, we could give them marks out of ten for different categories - our own online version of the JD Power Survey, and ours could be called the "CS Clio Survey"

I have experienced both a normal main dealer(Renault Edinburgh) and a franchised one (Abercromby Renault - now Arnold Clark) and I have to say that the franchised one is better all round and much friendlier too. I think you can tell the difference by whether the Renault comes before or after the other name.

It would be good if Jeremy could supply the list. After all the better rated dealers could have more customers to look forward to as a result.

griff! i have mentioned renault sutton park before, i was looking to buy an rt, went in sat down and talked to the bloke, he said he wouldnt take my part ex (mk1 micra) and wouldnt give me finance, seemed totally uninterested in helping at all, then he spotted a guy in a suit with a briefcase and couldnt have pushed me out the door any quicker! i went to moss pitt garage near stafford and they were exellent! they have changed now into an independant garage but still deal mainly in renaults.

Derv I know the feeling mate. When I went to buy the cup I waited about 30 minutes to be seen. They when I said I was interested in a cup he made it clear he thought I couldnt afford it and asked if I was sure i wanted the cup and not something "more suitable".

Made him feel a tw*t when I aksed for a part exchange deal on my 172 parked outside.
