I'm not sure, but didnt renault change something in the cars after post-2000 MY, sure i've seen ebay listings before that have said for example "renault stereo, only fits renault vehicles made before 2000, or pre-2000 cars"

I could be and probably am wrong though.

does the face curve quite a lot on the clio one? not sure if its the same on the megane..

The Megane's have a bigger stereo so you need a facia adapter to fit a standard sized stereo.
