Renault specialist in Manchester for cambelt change?

  ph2 clio 172
Good afternoon folks,

I am currently in the process of buying all the necessary parts for my cambelt, aux belt, dephaser and water pump change. just need the coolant and dephaser pulley now.

However after reading many threads, i have come to the conclusion that i need all the parts fitting by a specialist to have a good job done. so i ask are there any renault specialists in the Manchester / Greater Manchester area that fellow member would recommend so i can get some quotes and have the work done?

the work would be LABOUR ONLY as i will be supplying parts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Problem is Martin, with the f4r engine in the 172/182, you need someone who knows what they are doing as only a tiny bit out can lose power. Even if this change is done by someone who is hand with a cambelt change, but not the engine itself...it could already be out by a smidge...and only a Renaultsport specialist will spot that 100% a novice with these engines may miss it. Plus, a specialist will be cheaper and better than Renault.

You might struggle to get a garage to fit your parts. Unless they are genuine Renault parts. They can't guarantee it if they use non gen parts supplied by you.

Thanks for all the replies guys, the parts I have are motaquip. I think I will send an email over to birch down and see what they want for labour and if they would fit parts that I supply.

Thanks for the help gents

Absolutely pointless getting a garage to fit parts that you've supplied. They won't warranty the work and should it go tits up, you'll be left with a bill close to 4 figures just because you wanted to save £20 on parts.

  182
Birchdown in malpas as mentioned.

I did have mine done by renault salford when i bought the car. The timing was spot also!!

Can't remember his name though and may not work there anymore.

SC Autoelectrics in Bolton. He's done loads of cambelts, as well as 16 Clio/Megane engine conversions. I bet he will be cheaper than Birchdown as well.

Considering how common Renaults/Renaultsports are I was pretty miffed after I bought my 182 and then realized there isn't a decent indie specialist somewhere reasonably local to the Manchester area... as others have already said the 2 nearest are Diamond Motors in Notts and Birchdown in Cheshire.... both are over 70 miles away from me.
