renault specialists help required./?

i blew my airbag on my driver seat last june
im gona get racing seats fitted someday i guess.
but in the mean time, how the fcuk can i get the service light and airbag light to dissappear from my dash board. cos it wont go, since i blew my driver side seat airbag. do i need to purchase a new airbag computer, or u just reprogram the computer to disconnect the seats. cos i dont wanna spend stupid money. will it pass MOT if i dont get this sorted.??

please help. based in london, but will travel, to get sorted.

you need to replace the airbag and flash the airbag computer AFAIK

Can you not just take it to a Renault garage (or someone who has the proper kit) and reset the error code on the ecu?
It shouldn't fail the MOT because of this.

you will need a new computor...it will need to be programmed to tell it that it does not have the airbag that went off...

OK - the 1st thing you need to do is hook a "clip" diagnostic computer up to the diagnostic point to find out what has exactly blown ( under the ash tray ) you have a choice.........

o/s seat airbag
n/s seat airbag
o/s seat belt pre-tensioner
n/s seat belt pre tensioner
o/s/f seat belt inertia reel
n/s/f seat belt inertia reel
o/s/r seat belt inertia reel
n/s/r seat belt inertai reel
drivers air bag
pass airbag
o/s/r seat belt pre-tensioner
n/s/r seat belt pre-tensioner
o/s roof air bag ( option )
n/s roof air bag ( option )

( now you know why they hit a 5 star on the euro N cap safety tests )


When you have been involved in an accident, depending on the severity of the impact any of the above can blow - the "clip" diagnostic computer will check the above to see whats good and whats not. Along with a brand new airbag computer you will have to replace whatever has blown off and then have it all re-set to get rid of the light on the dash. If your planning on fitting racing seats youre simply gonna have to live with the warning lights on. Whilst the warning light is on the rest of the safety equipment is non functional.

It could be something as minor as the seat air bag & the airbag computer + resetting your ECU - £400 - £500 from Renault !!! if its something more serious dont expect change from £1000.

Personally i would try to find some second hand parts off a clio that hasnt been in a bad bump and has good seatbelts and a good unused airbag comp - you will be looking about £250 ish then

i have clip... you can replace the computor and configure it not to recognise the lateral air bag (if thats the blown one) that will put the light off.
new computor = @ 150 quid
clip test = @ 35 quid

If only it was so simple - guarantee the pretensioner will have fired off and the drivers seat belt inertia reel

not always matt....i had one the other day with just 1 pretensioner fired....
