Renault tell lies: Told me I needed a new key - I fixed it!

  Mr2 Roadster
Immobiliser wouldn't turn off most of the time. I asked Renault what they thought, they just saw money in my eyes and were no help.

Got Mike@Rentec to take a look and run the car on the CLiP. He confirmed it was the key.

Took the key home and cleaned it "carefully" with some servisol and it hasn't let me down yet.

So the moral of the story, don't trust the feckers down at your local garage!

Have a friend who has a broken key, I'll be going to clean that to see if it works as they paid £200 odd for two new keys?!?!

You got to love Renault some of there franshise garages do nothing to help themselves. Its a real shame.

Just be carefull as the internals are delicate so I'm told, exspecially the coil/aeral part.

Servisol is a cleaning spray for electrics. Use high alcohol stuff like aftershave as a substitute and just clean it with a cotton bud then leave to dry.

I can't promise it will work for everyone but it's well worth the try seeing as it costs nothing and a key is a fortune!

Nice one...

Hey - if you've got nothing to lose, you might as well open the beggar-up, and see what's what.
