Renault tunable ECU

I cant believe more people have got the R-Tuner from fastchip. Its only £237 and lets you reprogramme you standard renault ecu over and over again to however you like. Cheaper than an off the shelf jobbie to. How come hardly anybody has them? I'm gonna get one, they sound excellent, read this info here, click on r-tuner

It has data-loggong capabilities....so you run the engine over the load/speed sites you want to query/adjust then play back the run on the DL function, then adjust accordingly. you need a wideband lambda sensor.

I had one for my previous set-up. its very comprehensive although a little tricky. i certainly wouldnt bother if you dont fully understand mapping strategies, and how to apply them to a working engine.

I dont fully understand mapping, but would like to learn. This is cheaper than an off the shelf "chip" plus you can get loads of pre-designed maps with it. I would like to trial and error different maps. Keep a laptop in-car to switch between maps. Sam

yes you get a selection of maps....none of which are anybetter than an off-the-shelf-chip. the advantage of this is that you can tweak the maps to be ideal for your engine. but, likke i say you need to know wot your doing.

mapping isnt difficult if you know wot your doing, but this system isnt in real-time. it isnt live adjustment. so inherently its harder as you have to follow sensor traces (eg lambda/tps) so you know where to adjust for the next run.

it isnt as easy as swapping from one map to another to find which works best....
