Renault's at Castle Combe Action Day

A few nice cars out on track today, the 172 Cup was insanely quick (appeared to lap most cars in his session) and the general driving standard seemed pretty good for an action day. Bit hot for me though, if it isn't raining it's stupidly hot at Combe, never an inbetween. Ended up watching more than taking pics today but I did practice some slow shutter speed panning (1/50), needs more work...

Cracking pics Chris - good to chat to you yesterday.

Still sorting through mine. Nice work on the 1/50 pans. I was doing much the same. 1/100 - high chance of a keeper, 1/80 - very few keepers, maybe a couple, 1/60 - none :(

I have a few of the Clios and other french stuff (Saxo's, R5's, 205 GTi) which I will upload in the next few days.

You were unmistakable Rich, Renault cap, 'look at me' white lens ;), good to catch up.

I think most of the ones here I posted are actually 1/80, I had a fighting chance with that where I was (on the straight between Old Paddock Bend where we met, and Tower Corner), it's actually easier at 1/50 when they are travelling faster imo, I've always had more success coming down towards Avon Rise which is the fastest point on the track and also very close to the Armco. Castle Combe Saloons are hitting 130-160mph there on a race day which makes for a very quick pan, you only need 100mm or so at that point.

Loving the car, are you local? Noticed the Merlin Motorsport sticker in the back.

I didn't get any pics of yours (I did, but deleted them as they were awful), had no need to get any keepers today so I was experimenting - mostly unsuccesfully.

LOL!

I planned to do some panning there (Avon Rise) on the way back to the car in the afternoon but the sun was all wrong. I was playing around on the entry and exit to the Esses, and failing on the slower shutter speed stuff dismally. Thanks for the tip will play about when they are going a bit quicker - all makes sense as even the 1/200 pans I was doing at Tower after looked better and where easier to achieve.

yea it was mental on the track...the guy in the civic is one of my m8's...spent loads onit...the susspension is worth more than the car lol

the track was way too hot...after a few laps the tyres just got too hot and the back end just kept stepping out espically on the camp corner and when braking down into bobbies but was a great day and was really quick this time...
