Repairable? or Write off?

Your car came standard with Steel Wheels iirc. Someones put them alloys on it at some point

EDIT: Seen that it was a Campus, it would of came with the standard 5 spoke Renault alloys, the ones on the car are different

anyone else see a distinct lack of skid marks?

ABS ? Might not have hit the breaks that hard ? Might not have been going fast enough to skid ? Camera angle cut them out ?

If you didnt change the alloys and you acctually didnt know. Tell your insurance company. Tell them you struggle with the radio, never mind changing wheels.

They might see the light, but like some of the others said atm, your screwed if they know there not standard.

Thanks, Sam!

went over the kurb at about 15/10mph. i slammed my brakes hard. I'm going to find out tomorrow on the verdict.

As for the alloys, i didnt even know they were modifications. This is how i bought it. I thought they were standard like that.

If you slammed your brakes hard and still hit the lampost then I think you were going far too fast in the first place.

Your just coming up to a roundabout and just came over a speed bump and yet you still can't stop in time with the brakes hard on?

This happened before the roundabout. i was slowing down but the van edged out on me when he was close and he looked alot faster. I had younger brothers in the car and if thats how much damage a pole done to the car. imagine if went head to head collision with the van. the fact he didnt even bother to wait after to see if we were okay proves a point there alone.

If i didnt try to brake hard, i think the airbags would've gone off.

When accidents happen, no one can know how the outcome is going to be, I'm glad everyones alright but this is just a lot of hassle to deal with now :/

^^Agreed mate, van driver was a c**k for not stopping. He must of seen you in his mirrors bouncing off the pole

My thoughts, as if you claim, your insurance will hurt, forever:

1. New bumper
2. New bonnet
3. New headlight
4. Some filler
5. Remove conscience
6. Place on Autotrader. Cheap.
7. 99% of the public will not notice its been binned.

1st class ticket to hell please.

Poor lil clio. I've just got hope. I really want it fixed!
If not. How much does it cost to buy it back of them and get it repaired from somewhere else.

This clio had character :)

Ignoring all of the spam, in summary there's a high chance than your car will not be fixed by your insurer due to the wheels which will inevitably void your insurance. Your only ''way out'' so to speak, and if possible, is to change your wheels to the wheels it had when it left the factory, source some 15'' steelies and you should be ok.

not much... but dont waste your money.

you're obv not an active user, so refrain from such statements without owning an rs of any type.

Write-off... My PH1 172 was in a similar state and that was only worth 2k.

Though mine did have subframe damage which you might have got away with, but it's most likely bent too looking at the pics.

The insurance inspector won't even note the alloys, people don't realize that it's not a man from your insurance company just a man in your area who they ask to do it for them. And he don't give a f**k.

That car came with steelies as standard, so there's no way you're getting payed out on insurance unless you get some steel wheels for it sharpish.

It also has the wrong grill in it for some reason?

im more interested in the fact its on a 06 plate with mk2 ph2.1 bumpers an grills has it had a front end shunt before ;)

good observation, maybe its already had a bump.

That model of Campus got the older PH2 bumper for some reason. Then they changed it completely for the ugly campus model.

they all do

correct.

I have no clue about cars. I just bought a clio cos of the low mileage and the fact it was nice and clean. Easy to maintain and drive/park.

Im guessing that since you had no clue, you joined. Its just been noticed that your car has a different grill to the one it should, which could mean its possibly been in an accident before. I personally cant think of any other reason why it would need replacing.

That will not be repaired. Not a chance.

You'll have total loss on your insurance now for the next 5 years. Your next insurance premium is going to cost you a lot.

Unlucky dude.

Suffered a similar accident back in 2006, was going to the post office down the road when a van swung out of a bus stop, no indication or anything, pulled out in front of me about 10meters tops, I had no chance of stopping, gut instinct says you swerve, I hit a lamppost and game over...

Van driver nailed it and vanished, lucky thing was about 10 people waiting for the bus that morning seeing the entire thing happen, 3 of which rang police, ambulance etc. Car was wrote off, but insurance stang me (no 3rd party involved).

I was off work for like 6 - 7 weeks, good thing was I was put onto the MIB and I was paid out £5k under the untraceable drivers act for lose of earnings and injuries..

I hope it works out alright mate, always a gutter, eps come inurance time, my premium went up £300.

When I had an accident years ago, my car had a full stainless exhaust and spax suspension kit in bright yellow. I hadn't declared this to my insurance. I sweated about it for when the insurance assesor went to see it, but he said nothing and the car was repaired by my insurance company.

I think it just depends who comes to look at it, and if they even give a sh1t that it has non standard wheels.

But if they decide it's repairable then they will send insurance to inspect it closer.

Christopher, you behave like prat atm and its not just on this thread, with stupid comments like the above. Don't say things that you wouldnt say in real life... step away from the keyboard.

Firstly you value his car at £2.5k wrong, then you say for sure he has no insurance, yes he is at risk but there is no guarantee, so wrong. People will wrongly assume because you are a mod you know what you are talking about.

If his insurance company pays out even though there are undeclared alloys on a car that comes with steel wheels as standard, I want to know who they are so I can go with them at renewal.

People who are saying the insurance assessor won't notice the alloys, YES they will 100%. We had a Polo in at work that insurance refused to pay out on because the assessor noticed it had alloys from a Golf on it, even had VW centre caps the lot. They really are that picky.
