replacement for my golf....

  none, just walk
well the time has come to find a replacement for my 14 year old golf gti, after setting myself a budget of £9000 and deciding to go down the garage route rather than just by private just because i wanted to have the option to give the car back after a couple of years and i also wanted to comeback with warrenty, anyway-i set off with a open mind to get a new car, ive always wanted a clio 172/cup/182 or civic type r, and after shopping around and test driving both, i decided the civic was not in my price range and after doing myself some quotes i found the insurance was coming in a lot more on the civic so i was a little disheartened but i thought id go to the local renault place and see what they had, now i must say first im not a die hard driver so the appeal of a 172cup to drive it hard wasnt winning me over cos ive heard the cup is basically a stipped out 172 with out the fancy stuff of a 172 leather etc. so i was thinking a 172 would be a more sensible choice cos i could get it in a different colour and finally have leather and air con haha but when i got to the dealership they had a few 182's, 172's and one 172 cup- and i instantly fell inlove with it! its the colour and the way it sits that won me over!- i took it for a test drive and after driving my golf which is lowered and on 17's the ride was amazin- it was so crisp and quick and the smoothness of the acceleration was in a different world to my golf! ive seen so many pics of 172 cup's on the web and without sounding arsy i didnt think they looked special i noticed lots of people kept them standard and i didnt know why but after seeing a one in the flesh i know why, im basically after a car that i dont need to lowered or change the alloys or anything to make it look sporty like my golf has become, the cup looks mint from the box!
and to my heartache the one i drove/wanted was just sold! so im going to be on the look out at the local reg vardys for another i cant stop thinking about it! what a car!

Gald you liked it...

Ive just made the change in the opposite direction.... 182 to GTi Anniversary.

from what you say the 172 cup is not the car for you. My suggestion would be buy a Clio 182 in arctic blue (virtually the same colour as the cup) with the cup suspension and spoiler pack, this way you have the performance and handling of the cup with all the toys

Heres a pic of mine to show you the colour

Whoa, I had to take one deep breath to read that, for the sake of my lungs, use some full stops! ;)

Btw, good choice, CTR's are pants. :quiet:

If you can afford it then get a 182 with cup packs

thing is a 182 with cup pack will be looking at the wrong side of my budget (£9k)

i would love a 182 cos it means a newer car and believe me after driving a 14 year old car it would be a dream! haha

but im going to have a look at some 172's and 172 cups today if i can find some cos i would still get a 172 if it was the right colour cos like i say i wouldnt be buying a cup for the advantages it has over the 172 and the fact that it more toys on it helps

Look in the for sale section on this forum, there are some 182's knocking about with Cup packs for around the 9k mark!

Good choice btw and i'm glad you like it! We all do! Lol..
