Replacement Keys - What a price from Renault - any ideas on a cheaper alternative?

Hi All

Need a spare key for my 2003 Cup and been told its £65 for key and £40 for coding? - any ideas of a cheaper spare key option?

go to a decent key cutter - yellow pages or local web search - should do same (with coding) for half the price

Cool - was told by Renault is was a main dealer only part (the buggers) big thanks for the tip......

yep decent locksmith/key cutter will be able to sort for half the price,was told when i got my 182 by the renault dealer that i was only able to get the keyfob batterys from renault and that if i left it to late and the batteries died then renault would have to re-programme the key?!?

There right the key can loose its settings.
Only Renault delaers or places with the Clip diagnistics can program the keys to work with the imobiliser.
Cutting the metal bit of the key can be done by a lock smith but Renault can order them for £12 or so just takes a few days as they come from France on special order.
There no cheaper option unfortunatly unless you want to go chnage all your UCH, ECU and keys.
