Replacing Handbrake Cables?

  Liquid Yellow 182 FF
Right so this evening I went to put the handbrake on and clonk, the handbrake went all loose and now needs to be pulled up quite high to stop the car rolling. Looked at the back and the left side cable, the nut/nibble had pinged off. Im aware that I will need a new handbrake cable, and its best to get it done as a pair. Is it an easy job to do myself?? I am reasonably capable mechanically, Ive just never done handbrake cables before and can't find a guide.

Very easy to do. I would recommend doing them both and only buy genuine renault cables as the pattern parts do not fit.

1. Back end up on stands and remove the heat shield from the exhaust near the cat. You will see where the cables fit onto the hand brake lever.
2. One bolt to slacken off then remove the cables one at a time and fit the new ones following the route the old one took.
3. Once both are fitted tighten up the nut until the rear wheels just start to bind then slacken off half a turn.
4. Job done
If your car is anything like mine you will be back under it a week later to tighten it again as the cables bed in and become a little slack.

Thanks for the replies guys. Boosh, the guide only really covers adjusting, not fitting them, but thank you anyway :)
