Resoloutions on internet content

So not sure where to put this.


But as i've been getting more and more 720p stuff recently it's occurring to me that there are so many 1280x532 stuff being passed off as 720p when 720p is just that 1280x720. Why is this.... It's really annoying as i don't want sodding black lines at the top and bottom of my tv. Hmph.

Presume its films mainly as they will be shot for cinema and not for BluRay/HD Downloads so the aspect ratio will be set for the wider cinema screen compared to a home TV. Alot of studios do this as it shows the film how it was intended to be shown apparently

its all to do with the aspect ratio the film has been shot/processed in hardly anything other than tv is shot in 16x9 so you will get black bars its just the way it is
