rev limit 182

  182 FF
Hi my rev limit comes in way before the car goes into the red. I have soon videos oon you tube off most of them goin right up to the red line. My hits the limiter the second that little green change gear symbol lights up. (about 500 revs before the red). i dont often rev my car that hard so i have never noticed this untill now. just wondering if this is normal?

On a 172 the revs are limited to 6700rpm until the coolant temp has reached 75C. When at temperature the revs are limited to 7200rpm in 1st and 2nd gear and 7000rpm in 3-5th. The gear change indicator lights up 300rpm before the limit. I cant imagine the 182 being much different.

Could be the temp sensor, do you have trouble starting when the engine is already warm?

had this problem with mine.

i changed the coolant temprature sensor as advised on here and it did

nothing.

then changed the thermostat and it solved the problem. change it asap as

mine had a habit of breaking down before i changed the sensor and

thermostat.

hop this helps

I could drive the full way into work.. around 15 miles and it still wasnt warm enough to allow me to rev into the power band.. it does take a while and by that time your already where you want to be.
