Reverse lights Mk1 1.4 RT

Ok sorry for the question which may be ovbvious to you but i don't have a clue!
I am looking to buy the car but have been told the reverse lights do not work!
I know to check bulbs and he said he thinks its a relay problem but whats the worse this could be or most common problem? And how much to fix?

Could be the switch which is in the side of the gearbox, you would loose a little gearbox oil when changing it so buy some more oil.

Yeah can't cost to much!

All ya got to do is remove the passenger wheel and you'll see it
