Reversed into..

As the title says really, was just driving down on of the narrow roads near my house with my gf in the passenger seat. We were behind a transit van and the road we were travelling down is too narrow to fit two cars through, so the transit decides to start to reverse to give way to an oncoming car. I beeped my horn to let him know I was there, and was obviously expecting him to stop but he just carried on reversing and went straight into me.

Obviously wasn't going that fast but it was quite an impact, and he had one of those massive steps on the back so its just cut straight through my bumper and hit the radiator. Got his details etc. and he has basically admitted fault said he will pay for a new bumper but I think I'm gona have to go through insurance as the car is making weird vibrating noises when driving along, coming from the roof area.

Anyway couple of pics of the damage, not much to be seen really...

And some very poor quality pics of the car as I've not really posted any with the latest mods... megane splitter, 172 rear bumper, 16" superleggeras (thanks gazbenger), 3/4 plate, 172 spoiler, colour coded fog surrounds and a few other little bits.

If anyone has any advice on what to do next please feel free to post, and any good bodyshops which can fix and and finsh off the colour coding for me?

P.S. Lowering is next on the list before anyone mentions it

the exact same thing happened to me mate, i was driving my old fiesta an old man stopped in the middle of the road, and reversed straight back into me, no warning and didnt even look behind him.

he admitted it was his fault, we exchanged details and the insurance companies sorted it.

there will be far more damage than just a new front bumper id have thought, did you exchange insurance details?

Well I say I got his details, I got the reg and I actually know who the guy is and where he lives, he also gave me his phone number although I don't have any details of his insurance etc.

He basically admitted fault at the scene and said his mate works at a scrappy so he will try and sort me a new bumper. What do you think I should do next, bearing in mind the cars started making some horrible rattling/vibrating noises from the roof area which it wasn't doing before? I think its gona need more than just a new bumper. Oh and the cars also making a ticking noise when the engine is turned off which I've never noticed before, any ideas?

Seems that its done more damage than I first thought. Should I ring him and tell him I need to have it checked over and ask for his insurance details? What details do I actually need from him?

Sorry for all the questions, never been through insurance before.

i feel your pain, my 172 was reversed into on the 3rd, so have been driving round in mine/my sisters 1.2 for whilst its in the garage, and today i got reversed into again, in the 1.2! few scratches and a tiny dent, but it really does your head in!

Similar thing happened to my old boss.

Although the white van driver changed his story to read that he went into the back of him and that he was not reversing.

Be careful and tell the insurance company you have a witness and that your passanger was a work colleague or something.

If he does change his story his will be more plausible than yours.

As Jamie said, becareful he doesn't have an epiphany and decide to tell his insurers that you drove into the back of him. Doubtful though seeing as it's just a van.

Any ideas what to do next in terms of mods? I want a HID kit (should be sorted this week from JimmyJ), lower and colour coding. Do you think I could get discount on colour coding at a body shop if the car is already in getting the bumper sorted?

Also thought about a theme on the calipers and badges, maybe yellow? Any ideas?

Yeah gotta be the main priority, no idea how to do it though, think I'm gona get hold of some springs and I'll have to tackle it over a weekend with fubars guide lol.

So plans are:

• Lower
• Colour code
• HID's
• Dewiper rear
• Paint calipers/side badges to match
• Possibly a wheel refurb, what do people reckon to anthracite?
• And maybe a CAF into one of the fogs

What do you think of the plans? Any other suggestions?
