Road suspension set up!

  Ph-Quick
Ive searched and read a few threads about coiloevers and springs and that but just wondering on peoples views.

The best option seems like H&Rs but the price of them is abit out of range at the mo!

I was wondering what people are using for road use?

Got sportlines on my 02 172 at the mo and FK coilovers on the new 2001 172 i pick up 2moro.

I was thinking of getting some shocks for the sportlines to replace the FKs as i dont want it silly low i just want it to perform well!

I dont plan on many if any track days right now so thats not an issue!

So anybody recommened some shocks or other options?

I think you have to spend a lot of money on coilovers to get a good road set up. I found my FK's too hard for road use, it was never very composed on the bumpy stuff.
So I decided on a Koni Full Kit......

They do sell the adjustable shocks but the price adds upto the same so it's worth buying the kit and selling the springs if you have Eibachs, the ones in the kit are very similar tho. in all aspects.
Had em on a couple of months now and no complaints from me or the car. It gets driven at speed so my opinion is based on fast road driving...not slow;)

Just dont go to hard with loads of damping and super high spring rates, most roads are quite bumpy.

Stock are IMO the best dampers unless your spending a fortune.

Listen to edde on this. The factory shock absorber might not be the technically best part available, but the engineers involved put a lot of money and effort into the best settings. Suspension is an area where the settings are just as important as how technically good the part is. You can spend a fortune putting an expensive technically-superior part in, and it won't do half as good a result unless its set up right. And you don't know how to do that unless you are an expert in setting up suspensions.

I have been thinking about getting some new stock shocks as at the mo on my PH2 172 it rides so well on the OE shocks and eibachs and doesnt sjip about like the PH1 does with the FKs!

And it wouldnt cost me a silly amount either!

Would i be able to run the cup shocks as they are even better are they not? would they fit a PH1 and would the eibachs fit?
