Road Tax Help....Please!

Right, my car may be on it's way this weekend if the viewing goes well.

What Id like to know is what road tax changes do I need to carry out if it all goes through.

If the car sells, Im looking to buy another car next week...

What do you mean exactly ? What changes ?? You either sell yout car with road tax or you cash in your road tax at the post office and get some money back .

I mean like change of ownership if I sell it private.... Does this have to be documented with the tax ppl? Or am I being totally stupid and should not worry about this whatsoever....

If you sell it on the car it changes over when the V5 gets sent off doesn't it ??

Well thats how its always worked for me when I have sold a car with tax on, never had to do anything else other than complete and send back the V5

nope.. you both fill it in and you post it off (so you know the cars owner has changed, and you dot get landed with their speeding fines)

the owner takes the receipt half as proof of buying the car.

NEVER give them the V5, only the li'l tear off slip. If you give them the V5 they might not send it off, therefore it's still in your name.

but remember to take note of the address to send it off to which is on the very back page..


cos you rip that half off, the buyer takes that half as their receipt.. you come to send your half off and there's no fricking address on it telling you where to send it off to! LOL
