Rolling road results ; before + after cams-manifold-inlets-etc

  RS RIP
Posted in Engine & gearbox also , but hungry for feedback  , no replies in old thread so i made a new one.

After colombo & Bariani cams, 182 manifold, inlets matched, v6 airbox + custom remap by Fastchip

Good results !? (power is at the wheels)

  Clio 182
Damn thats hurting my eyes, whats the before and after bhp, can hardly see it....
With the cams etc is that saying 200bhp, pretty good result to be fair

  lift number 1 @ btm
200 at the wheels?

is that hp or ps, and what losses did you show?

sounds like a very good result to me!

:D nono believe me it's at the wheels. We have torque in Newton meters. Torque increased around 10 NM

press the bar above the pics for full view. (Fossie, because your eyes hurt trying to find out ..)

Generous RR ? This is one of the RR's that has Henk's approval , his home base dyno where he does all his maps . Plus the first one (before) was done in Amsterdam, although on the same brand/type/make of Dyno.. maybe this one was off but i do'nt believe the second one was , no way

Really, the car flies !! i just got back from an evening thrash; temp below zero (cold is best) and i'm finding it hard to keep her on the road as hard as it pulls..

Henk was seriously surprised and pleased with the results, we matched the graphs to his 197 Clio and they were almost the same.. it's genuinally making around 200 @ the fly

Maybe Henk will come around to verify , anyway i'm extremely happy :approve:

Hav'nt you just said its at the wheels, and then said its at the fly at the bottom? I may be wrong?

  Nippy white cup
I don't think it is too far fetched just under 200bhp with cams, inlets, manifold and exhaust/decat and custom map?

168bhp at the wheels I reckon to be around 197bhp at the fly

Chris

The torque is the 200 on the graph in NM...the bhp is the one just under 170 at the wheels

I'm confused by this and the graphs.

So if its a genuine 200bhp @ wheels, that would make about 235bhp at the fly wheel....I don't think so!!!!

The top line is torque, the bottom line is power.

mate, the increase in power is evident.

the main thing is the car is more responsive and pulls stronger on the road.

good stuff!

probably a hell of a lot more driveable than my clio right now!

people must have been drinking :D Not 200 at the wheels ! probably around somewhere 200 @ the fly (when you throw 15% equation on the 171,6 wheel-power stated in the graph) .. Only thing mentioned on these graphs is power at the wheels

And yes the top curve is NM , the torque (which is a nick over 200)

So what do you make of Henk's map then? Would be good to be able to download a map for cams if somebody already had the rstuner

When you have the Rstuner (Pro i think is nessescary) and also have cams Henk can make a map to suit with all the data you get on a recording that you send him. En035 has also done this and was very pleased with the results

if i recall correctly your car has headwork aswell?

results seem very strong IMO

You remember correct ! When the cams were being mounted, together with all bits and the engine was out, i called to see how things were and the man who has a lot of Renault experience told me he suspected the car had work done on it because the way the inlet ports looked. (that's not the head ?)

However In my other thread, where i asked about this, someone stated the OEM ports look like they've been worked on by a chissle.. This is the way my ports looked , no bigger than another engine i had seen a little while back. I would suspect that worked on inlet ports would have been smoothened out and bigger ..
Also the both inlets were OEM , untouched.

No further work on the engine is my conclusion ..

Are there no more people, riding Schrick for example, making these results ? I can hardly believe my results are unique. My car has just seen Wide Open Throttle all of it's life really loosening things up in there.. broken in like it should i guess

Finally when Henk Fastchip spends a little extra attention because we were lucky to have some extra time on the RR then this made the job complete

Cool

I am running schricks and made 177bhp fly and 146 wheel HP

I do have low compression across all 4 cylinders though (25%) down and started with 158bhp before any modifications (cams, inlets, decat, ITG filter, custom map)

So it appears you have a strong engine and i have a weak one! (obviously the outputs cannot be compared as totally different rolling roads)

glad you are pleased with the car!

^^ Cheers ! Yeah i could'nt be more happy because all the things done does buy a smart second hand car ..

When compresion is down, does cam-timing have any say in that ? I've read about a couple of cases where bad timing caused 15-20 hp loss with car seeming to run fine .. ?

i have had my timing checked and corrected, and compression testing along with a leakdown test still havent shown why i have a low HP output, looking into replacing the engine now :)

  172 cup
thats got to be fly figure surely, why else would people spend 4k on ITB's and cams to get close to 220-230

  172 cup
just been looking at the graph does it not say max output is 160? that would be a sensible wheel figure

this is the readable version..

Scannen0004.jpg

@Riley ; surely not. It's power at the wheels ! :D And the first one shows 160,.. at the wheels yes, the second one shows 171... We even got a run just before that was higher ; almost 175 !! This was due to the cooler situation , later was a "warmer" run

Henk Fastchip called me later and again said that this setup (C&B cams, exhaust manifold+inlets) was the best working he's ever encountered.

We held the graphs of his 197 next to mine and they were identical.. Making the exact same power + torque as his tuned 197 (only mine is a small 300kg lighter . He could'nt believe it himself:cool:

I should be ordering my RSTuner box soon - and will be forwarding my data to Henk in order to custom map my 182 running cat cams unfortunately i dont have the inlet mods' but it will be good to understand how close/far off i am with such mods

Franx, is yours a 197??

I have the same mods plus a filter and I make just over 200 at the fly on a very accurate dyno!!

I find 200 ATW vey hard to get my head round as you seem to have 30 odd BHP more at the wheels with the similar mods!!
