They've finally done the mk4 justice. That looks proper

The stance and width and spoiler all just look epic.

It's such a shame the road cars don't look half as good
Also a shame that it's one of their track specials and not a lunatic you can drive as a daily. That's assuming it ships with harnesses and no back seats.

Harnesses make for the perfect road car and safety imagine how much it could save your life if you crashed into a trolley or something on a car park

Think it was in EVO that I read the rear bench would be an option if it goes into production.

Didn't they offer something similar with the Meg Trophy R?

For whatever they want to charge for it, you'd think they'd have deigned a front end that doesn't look like £20k's worth of Kia.

Don't quote me. But I don't think so.

TrophyR had the ohlins etc as standard along with rear cage and harnesses.

Trophy was basically a Meg with ohlins/akra as options (I think) and had normal back seats and seat belts.

I had a go in a Trophy R at a Renault sport track day. What a car. As much as I'd like to think I'm a racing driver and would use one as a daily. I can't help but feel like it was a bit compromised for a daily. And for the money (36k) would rather have a new Caterham for a toy.

Have you had a go in a regular 275, or a cup s?

I had a go of the trophy r and was properly blown away by it, how flattering it was and how it went. I had a go of a cup s the following year and it felt different, I can't put my finger on it but it didn't seem as willing to be thrown around the track like the trophy r. Maybe it was a bit too compromised?

YouTube has been one of the greatest websites ever however on the down side you get some proper annoying knuts on there. Who are making a lot of money for being purely cockwombles.

I thought the Renault Stand and overall presence at Goodwood this year was very impressive! I also think its a tad unfair for the Hosts operating the stand to be able to answer each and every question thrown at them on the spot. Customers that are interested in finding out more would of had there details taken for their local dealers to assist further.

I disagree with that in a way. Goodwood is a Mecca for petrolheads. It's not the usual country-bumpkin farm-fare and as such, you can expect the majority of attendees to be focused on all aspects of cars. A manufacturer (Renault) then bestows a select group of people to be stood near or hovering around a car like this.

The 'team' only needs to to be two or three people - properly trained and fed information about the car. Its blatantly obvious that a raft of questions will come their way - from 10-year-old kids to serious potential buyers. They should be familiar with the car - ideally have driven it in anger on a circuit or two. To have a manufacturer the size of Renault letting a car like this simply 'appear' with little knowledge from the nearby staff is very poor indeed.

It's not the fault of the staff - but Goodwood didn't suddenly happen with no prior notice. It will have been pre-booked in the calendar for months - more than plenty of time to get staff up to speed. Why would any potential customer want to part with their money on a performance focused hatch, when the team bringing it to the table have little knowledge about it in the first place? I certainly wouldn't.

No decision has been made on the production of R.S.16 but should it be produced, the U.K will of course be getting an allocation.

Take your point - the agency staff are given training on all of our models (Clio, Captur, Twingo, Kadjar, ZOE, Megane, Trafic, Renault Sport, etc etc) however there's bound to be knowledge gaps which is why we aim to have a 'specialist' from RUK on each vehicle on stand at all times where possible. I was with Alpine this year and flicking between the two.
