RS Tuner owners

Right, i have spent a while now looking at threads on these things and im still unsure of a few things.

I have a 182 - 04 reg and ideally i would like the new RS Tuner "pop n bang" i believe its called?

My questions are as follows

Do you need a license? - If so is this expensive? What's the deal with this...
If I buy a second hand one... What do i need to make sure about? Codes?...
Is it just as simple as "plugging your windows 7 Laptop in and clicking a few buttons?
Is there a possibility of it f**king up my car to the point were i'm sat there thinking "why did i bother"

ANY help, advice, experience would be so greatly appriciated... if anyone in the Warrington area who's done it before was willing to help that would be fantastic!

All the information you'll need will be on there. If its second hand and has been used then you will need to purchase a license to use it on your car. You will then also need to buy the map for the car as well. After buying these theres not much different in price compared to buying new.

If you buy new you get the map and license free. There is a chance you can f*ck the car up but as long as you have basic knowledge using windows then it literally is plug in and play. fastchip and CS.net have guides made up on how to use it. took me around 30 mins in total to do. Your supposed to have a laptop charger and car battery charger at hand incase you lose power during the map. But i just chanced it and got away with it.

Yes. If it's 2nd hand, it will be locked to the car it came from. If you can - buy it UNLOCKED, you will also need to buy the map and a car licence i believe. If it's new, you'll need to provide FastChip.nl with your VIN so it can be locked to your car and you'll be given the STG1 98RON map, the Over-run map is €20 i think.

Essentially yes. Plug it in, plug it into the car, follow the guide it comes with, dont let the battery in the laptop or car die in the process or you'll be in hot-water.
