RS Tuner

  Lotus Elise
I have been doing some searching but it hasnt come up with the goods.

What actually is a 'RS Tuner'?

  GB 182 FF
how much 'control' over the calibration (remap) do you have with the rstuner? or is it basically preset stuff you can select etc

  GB 182 FF
sod that, I'd sooner have full control over any form of recalibration. Plus IME 'remapping' an N/A engine is like weeing in the wind lol

I wouldnt be so keen on an RS Tuner without going custom calibration having seen the results a few got on RRd recently.

I have just done mines! had to update my software from 6400 to 6500 to upload a performance calibration! only thing with mine is i couldnt get the over run map as my firmware version is 1.09. If i knew this at the time i wouldnt have bothered!

Saying that though! once i done it. The power curve is alot smoother, car accelarates alot better lower down the revs (reminds me of a turbo diesel) and it has moved the limiter to around 8400 approx. Improved mpg aswell.

I've only driven a couple of 172's and 182's and I cant say the low down driveability needs fettling with imho.... OK when on full throttle the 'curve' feels a little wavey in the delivery but nothing that NEEDS attention (again imho).

Its not perfect, nothing ever it, but its not in dire need of fixing

  Clio172 / Focus Ti X
no you are right it doesnt need any attention. but the map has made it a hell of alot better. I had issues with my throttle body aswell before hand which probably didnt help matters. but once i fixed that and then installed the re map it seemed to "woke the engine up" a bit

I cannot believe someone said it makes a Clio feel like a turbo diesel. If it did I'd sell my Clio straightaway, throw the RS Tuner into a bin and set fire to it!: eek:

This car is the antithesis of a diesel car, hell!

I would argue it does matey....

I cant believe the way mine flat spotted purely down to a combination of the original mapping and the lack of proper juice over here..........wasnt quite so prominent on VPower tbh

The new map makes the delivery feel almost linear and i think thats what the diesel comment was about....

Notable torque.

You havent been in a remapped 335D then have you?

tescos pikey fuel going in when I have mine :)

if the car cant run on pikey fuel then its got no place on the road imho lol

Worth getting for the cold starts and idle alone! My cup used to hate cold stars, would alwasy want to die(sometimes would when real cold) and need a quick rev to sort it, now it starts flawlessly everytime. Also the mid range torque is nice seems to pull hard from 4k now instead of waiting till 5 before anything happens. definately worth it imo :D

yeah the turbo diesel comment was purely how low down it pulls compared to what it used to! made a huge difference. aswell as idling and cold starting as said.

I have been in a 335d but not a mapped one. even the standard one was quick as hell! wouldnt mind a 330d or a 530d m sport while on that subject.

Aye.....we have a wee 320d estate and we had it mapped up to 212bhp.......it was utterly ludicrous but lost that "BMW" feel so we got the map off (wifey drives it mostly)

However, the RSTuner map has absolutely.....and i mean that, ABSOLUTELY transformed the Clio. Its now the car I expected it to be rather than waiting, waiting, waiting.....4.5k BOOOOOM.

I came away from a VTEC looking for torque and the Clio didnt feel like it had it at first, by gum it does now.

:D

DO IT DO IT DO IT
