RSI BHP

My mate has just bought an N reg RSI - payed 1700 for it (82000 miles). He said it had 110bhp standard - im not 100% sure this is right! Has anybody got the figures?

i thought it was slightly less - about 95 - 100bhp

i got the 2000-2001 rsi and they 110bhp aswell but only a 1.6 16v not 1.8! the 0-60 is supposd to be better in the older version but i been up againt 2 and beat them both and not just by a little amount! (they might have just been sh*te drivers)

The Mk1 RSIs are 1.8 8v! So id imagine the mk2s would beat one - what insurance group is yours - i wouldnt mind a 1.6 for my next car!!

group 10 and the old shape is group 11!

the new rsi is a pain to get hold of for the rght price and mileage (in black any way) u might as well get the facelift 1.6 16v! its exactly the same engine!

group 10 ! The Focus 1.6 Zetec is only a 6 i think!! lol!!

It all depends if i get a job next year or not! if i do then ill pick a new car up - a 1.6 clio or maybe my mums focus 1.6 zetec! Who knows!! lol

The Mk1 came with a 95bhp 1.8 8v (RT, Baccara) and a 110bhp 1.8 8v (RSi).

The 137bhp 1.8 twin cam 16v (16V) was a different design, from the high performance engine series.

Newer cars have lower insurance groups because of commonality of parts (e.g. a Golf is also a Leon, Octavia, TT, A3) and because they are, on the whole, less easy to steal.

Insurance groupings given when new mean very little to older cars, for reasons including the likelihood of repair going down (and therefore cost).

I nearly bought a 1.8 RT before I got my 1.4, would have been pretty cool except that they only came in 5 door form, odd.
