So I'm assuming this is the correct thread to post this but I just posted a video to Youtube about the full RSTuner install on your PC, Map install in the car, and first impressions.
Since I don't have a window's PC, I had two options: either buy a new PC just to install the Map or to find a work around. I ended up doing the latter and it worked perfectly. I did it this way because in the end it will be much cheaper than buying a new PC. I know I am not the only one who uses Apple mostly exclusively so I figured I would post a video about it!
I'll go over the process briefly but all the information you need to do will be in the attached video at the end of this post.
If you have a modern Mac with only USB type C connectors, the first thing you will need is a USB C to USB A adapter. Most should work and you can find them anywhere online. I got the official Apple one for something around $25 USD.
Next you will need to go to www.parallels.com
You will be able to sign up for a free trial without inputting any credit card information. I believe the trial lasts for about 2 weeks or so. After the trial period, it costs $99.99 USD per year which still ends up being cheaper than buying a new PC. I won't go over the full install and setup for parallels because it's fairly straight forward once it's been downloaded. One of the great things about Parallels is that your file system is shared between your Mac and your Windows virtual machine. This means if you save something on the virtual machine, you can access it through the Mac file system and vice versa.
After parallels is set up, you can go to fastchip.nl and begin downloading the RSTuner software. Once it's downloaded you will plug in your RSTuner interface and open the software. There you will see a code that will need to be emailed to info@fastchip.nl so that they can email you back an unlock code for your interface.
It will take a few minutes to get your unlock code back but once you have it, you will open the software again and paste that code into the unlock box and you'll be ready to continue. At this point, connect the interface to your computer and then to your car's OBD 2 port. You will then click the connect button and turn your key to run but don't start the engine. Once it's connected to your car you may have to manually input your VIN. After that click the capture button on the top menubar to screenshot your ECU info. You will then send that screenshot back to Fastchip so that you can receive the correct tune.
At this point, make sure your car is fully charged and if you are able to, connect it to a battery charger. I didn't have a mains connection close by so I let the car run for a few minutes to charge up. Once it has been sufficiently charged, ensure all accessories are turned off: cruise control, lights, radio, A/C, etc. and you can connect the car back to the software.
Here you will click the Read CAL button to create a backup of your stock MAP in the off chance that something goes wrong in the flashing process. Once you have successfully saved your stock Map backup you can now click Write CAL and flash the Map that was emailed to you.
Once the Map has been flashed, you will crank your engine until it starts, verify everything seems to be operating correctly and then turn the car off for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, you can start the car again and go on driving like normal with your new Map! If you have cruise control, there are a few extra steps that I don't go over here or in the video as I don't have cruise control.
